PIP Challenge 2326

 Sponsored by Lawn Fawn

Hello and welcome.  Today beings a new challenge over at Pammie's Inky Pinkies and this week we're being sponsored by Lawn Fawn.  I would like to thank them for their sponsorship this week.  My card uses Lawn Fawn's Flamingo Together set.

Since Mother Nature has turned on the furnace to high heat for California, I went with a beach theme.  I started out by stamping my flamingo images in memento tuxedo black ink before coloring using both prismacolor and copic markers.  I then stamped the palm trees using memento rich cocoa, cottage ivy and pear tart before stamping my saying in both memento black and lilac posies.  Then, using a direct-to-paper technique, I created my "sand" by applying memento desert sand directly underneath the flamingos before stippling Tim Holtz broken china distress ink in the background for the ocean and sky before layering and adding brads.  My card is stamped using a retired Stampin Up flamingo wheel with regal rose ink before I added the image panel popping it up using pop dots.  The final touches were applying some 3D glaze pens to highlight parts of the flamingo's and their legs before adding some old Queen and Company floral sequins with ice stickles.

  1. Sweet Bonnie Lynn, I absolutely fell in love with this card when I saw it over at Pammie's Inky Pinkies earlier today (I entered the challenge). I'm delighted to see that you've shared it with us at The Four Seasons Challenge as well as at Word Art Wednesday. I'm so very grateful to have you share with us in these challenges and I really appreciate it. Those flamingoes are just SO adorable and made me smile immediately. What a FUN card. I sure hope to see more of your wonderful art again.

  2. Hey, Bonnie! Hope you are able to stay cool inside, these heat waves are so draining and I swear they mess with our heads like barometric pressure does. Well, what an adorable card. I love it! I'm chuckling at knowing all the Memento color names, I have them all. Great minds think alike and sometimes they come in very handy. Also, digging your pencil and marker use. It always makes me feel better knowing I don't leave any uncolored spots with the pencils because I don't usually blend with the blender pen like you. Hope you have a yummy 4th and the fireworks don't scare your pets too much. XOX

  7. Well done creating a card design to cool you off, Bonnie! It's a great flamingo card and I love the sediment!

I'm glad that spike of heat was short-lived and these past few days have been incredibly cool. Love it! I see it's going to head up to a hunnert again by next weekend, but it's to be expected. (Maybe I'll follow your lead and create a beach card then!) Thankfully, we are both feeling a tiny bit better every day, but still sleeping lots. Thank you for inspiring everyone at NBUS! Hugs, Darnell
