Thanksgiving Inspiration

Hello and welcome.  Today is a new weekly challenge over at Bugaboo's blog Catch The Bug and it's a photo inspiration challenge.  For my project, I went with Thanksgiving using the Thanksgiving Brat image.

After printing my image onto Neenah white card stock, I colored it using Castle Art pencils and a blender pencil before stippling Tim Holtz tumbled glass around it then layered.  I then added some brads before adding the image to my card made using Stampin Up card stock along with some dusty PTI Fall Prints designer paper.  The border was made using a scrap of the PTI designer paper and a strip of handmade mulberry paper I bought years ago. As an afterthought, I took a black artist pen and added some faux sewing around the colored image.  The only other embellishments added were some dusty dew drops before sponging always artichoke ink around the whole card.

Black Friday Shopping

Hello and welcome.  It's Humor Me Wednesday at Bugaboo and today I'd like to share with you a card made in honor of Black Friday using Bugaboo's Stella Christmas Cost image.

After printing the image onto Neenah white card stock, I colored it using Castle Art pencils and a blender pencil before stippling tumbled glass distress ink around it then layering and adding brads.  For the card, I used Graphic 45's 12 Days of Christmas designer paper on a handsome hunter card.  The image panel was added to the card using dimensionals then I pulled out some Making Memories felt flowers I've had for years and never used along with some poinsettia dew drops.  As an afterthought, I took a black artist pen and added some faux stitching to the image panel.

Anybody in the mood to get sketchy? Get Sketchy with us here.  There's still time to enter into the challenge.

Today's Menu

Hello and welcome.  Today is the Anything But A Card post over at Bugaboo's blog Catch The Bug. Since Thanksgiving is coming this week here in the United States, I chose to make a framed wall hanging for the kitchen using the Frame It Stella Today's Menu image. It's new to me and is also this week's freebie over at Bugaboo. (edited to add note: Jodie is having some issues with the store site so it may not have updated to show the latest freebie) As a mom I know I said this a time or two to my kids while they were growing up.

After printing the image off onto Hammermill white card stock, I colored it using both prismacolor and copic markers before adding to a dollar store frame.  I then die cut some flowers from scrap black card stock before punching out some greenery using my Martha Stewart fern punch and some scrap green card stock then added some Stampendous bling stickers I've had for years.  With that, my frame was finished.  I'm really happy with how it turned out since I was dealing with another migraine.

Stella's Search And Rescue Mission

Hello and welcome.  Today's post on the Bugaboo blog, Catch The Bug, is our weekly Humor Me Wednesday inspiration.  My card was inspired by Take A Hike Day on November 17th.  I never even knew this day existed, did you?  So I decided to use Bugaboo's Stella Search And Rescue, an image I've had for a while but never used before now.  My dad would've loved this card since he had a snarky/interesting sense of humor.  I do miss him.

After printing my image onto Neenah white card stock, I colored it using Castle Art pencils and a blender pencil before stippling Tim Holtz tumbled glass and wild honey distress inks around it then layered.  I then took a green card and stamped leaves and acorns in glorious green ink before adding a cocoa border strip then sponging the green ink around the edges of the card.  The only embellishments used were copper brads and cord then adding ice stickles to highlight parts of the image.  I'm happy with how it turned out since I colored it with the remains of a migraine.  It took a few days but I was able to finish it.

Down On The Farm

Hello and welcome.  Today I'd like to share a card made using today's Friday Freebie from Bugaboo.  In fact, you can get a twofer deal - today's freebie and some matching farm images one of Bugaboo's Facebook Fan's (Judee Gal) made to go with the Bobblehead images.  It also goes great with a lot of  Bugaboo's farm images including the Molly Moo ones.  I'm not sure why I never used the farm set before, but I'm glad I finally did.

After combining, then printing, my images onto Hammermill white card stock, my scene was colored using Castle Art pencils and a blender pencil.  Once the coloring was finished, I stippled some Tim Holtz stormy sky and tumbled glass around the sky portion of my scene.  I then added some SU garden green ink that was left on the stipple brush from another project at the bottom then layered and added black brads.  The layered scene was then added to a black card with a bandana pattern designer paper left over from another project.  I then punched some flowers from scrap summer sun card stock before adding two black butterflies punched from black scrap card stock.  Both were made using my Martha Stewart punches.  They were all added using Ranger Glossy Accents to adhere them to the card.  The final touches were adding some ribbon/fibers, a pitchfork charm, butterfly "flight trails" using a black artist pen and finally diamond ice stickles to the center of the flowers.  I'm really please with how this turned out.  It took a few days to make since I was battling another migraine and had to keep taking breaks.

Just For You Doodles

Hello and welcome.  First let me say, THANK YOU to all of our veteran's and their families for your service - past and present.  Also THANK YOU to all the essential workers and first responders for your tireless service.

I have a couple of friends that are going through a rough patch right now since their views differ from their husband/dad, and neighbors, on the results of the U.S. election.   So I decided to make a little pick-me-up from a never before used, and retired, Stampin Up set I received from one of them.  I started out by stamping the image in memento tuxedo black ink onto scrap white card stock then colored using prismacolor and copic markers before stippling Tim Holtz tumbled glass and broken china distress inks around it.  Once they were layered, I added brads then adhered them to a card base made from scraps.  I then stamped the saying also in memento black before adding some bling to the images.  As an afterthought, I then pulled out a black artist pen and added some faux sewing to both cards.

Halloween and Christmas

Hello and welcome.  Today we have a new challenge over at Catch The Bug and the theme for this week is Anything Goes.  For my project, I am using a new to me Bugaboo digi called Halloween Christmas Owl Trio.  Now isn't this so true?  The stores already have Christmas music playing.

I started by printing the image onto Hammermill white card stock then colored using both prismacolor and copic markers before layering.  I then took a black artist pen and added some faux sewing doodles around the edges.  Since I didn't have matching brads to the card, I made my own faux brads by using a small fiskars hand-held circle punch along with a Martha Stewart glue pen.  For my card, I took a retired Stampin Up leaf wheel, along with a retired Rollergraph snowflake wheel, and alternated them onto a green card using glorious green ink before sponging the same ink around the edges of the card.  I then added some googlie eyes to the owls and diamond ice stickles to the "cymbal" and ornament.  The final embellishment was highlighting parts of the image using Sakura 3D glaze pens.

Autumn Leaves

Hello and welcome.  Today I'd like to share a card made using this week's Bugaboo Friday Freebie called Autumn Brat Leave.  I really like this image because it can be used for so many different cards (ie: thinking of you, birthday, hello, fall/thanksgiving, etc).

After printing off the image on to Hammermill white card stock and coloring using both prismacolor and copic markers, I lightly stippled Tim Holtz stormy sky, tumbled glass and brushed corduroy inks around it then layered.  Once layered, I added some copper brads copper cord and then the layered image to a dry embossed card base.  I also then stippled some garden green ink over the dry embossed images to help them stand out a bit.  The final touches were some punched leaves using snippets/scraps from various fall colored card stock and some dew drops adhered using Ranger glossy accents.

Just Denim Folks

Hello and welcome.  I'd like to share an Oldie But Goodie from Bugaboo Stamps called Girlz 01 which is not currently in the shop.  I've had this image for a few years and haven't used it for some reason.

After printing it onto white card stock and coloring using prismacolor markers, I stippled Tim Holtz faded jeans distress ink around it before layering and adding to a navy card with Authentique Original designer paper I've had for years using dimensionals.  I then fussy cut a "pocket" from the designer paper, added it to the card then added prima flowers with punched fern greenery and waterfall ice stickle centers.  The other embellishments used are dew drops, navy ribbon, brushed copper brads and a brushed copper clip.

A Joyful Snowman

Hello and welcome.  Today is New Release Tuesday over at Bugaboo Stamps.  Today we are releasing a cute trio of snowmen just in time for making Christmas cards.  For my project, I decided to go with non-traditional Christmas colors - pink and purple.

After printing my image onto Georgia Pacific white card stock and coloring using Castle Art pencils, I stippled Tim Holtz tumbled glass and broken china distress inks around it before layering and adding brads.  I then took a regal rose card, dry embossed it using my big shot and cuttlebug snowflake embossing folder before sponging regal rose ink around the edges of the card and lightly over the dry embossed snowflakes.  I then added my layered image and a pink/gold organdy ribbon.  The final touches were ice stickles, snowflake sequins and a wooden joy saying I've had for a year or so and haven't used yet.
