I've so been wanting to ink up my Oh Deer mini stamp set by Mark's Finest Papers, a Heinrich Company and finally got a chance to do so while feeling pretty lousy from this flu bug that's going around.  Although it took two days to finish it, I'm VERY happy with the finished product and will be entering it into a few blog challenges as well including the current For Your Inspiration challenge which have started back up for 2013.  Here's the inspiration photo I went by.

After stamping my main image from the Oh Deer mini and Scenic Selections in memento tuxedo black onto MFP white card stock, I pulled out my prismacolor markers and got to work coloring the images before stippling some Tim Holtz tumbled glass for the sky.  Then I stippled a combination of Stamping Up! garden green and Tim Holtz forest moss inks for the grass before stamping some grass from Scenic Selections in the same ink combinations to define the blades a bit more.  After printing off some My Time Made Easy Bold Boys designer paper and sponging rust ink around the card layer, I stamped a background scrap border using a deer image from Mountain Selections in not quite navy ink before popping up my layered main image over the stamped border.  The only embellishments I added were some vintage brads and buttons with thread tied through them.  The inside saying says "Happy Birthday Deer".

Born To Be Wild

Hello.  I hope you enjoyed the Mark's Finest Papers, a Heinrich Company blog hop last week and received lots of inspiration.

Today I am sharing a card I made, even with another migraine, for a couple of challenges.  I mean, when inspiration hits, I have to go with it even with the pain, or there's no sleeping off the headache for me.  My card was mainly inspired by the colors of the picture from this week's For Your Inspiration challenge.

Take a look - isn't this sunset just gorgeous?!  Keeping with the tropical theme, I pulled out some black and orange Stampin Up! card stock to go with my images from MFP's Big Cats stamp set.

Once I had my tiger stamped twice in memento tuxedo black onto snow storm smooth card stock, I pulled out my prismacolor markers and got to coloring before cutting one image out to pop up later and then stippling Tim Holtz tumbled glass distress ink around the edges of the layered tiger.  Then I pulled out my cuttlebug leafy branch embossing folder and dry embossed the card before adding a strip from MFP's Safari Fabric Collection tied in a knot with a tiger charm.  My final embellishments were some Making Memories black baby brads and some Colorbok black metallic stickers before popping up the cut out tiger image.

Lighthouse Hello - For Your Inspiration #27

This week's For Your Inspiration photo challenge is all about one of my favorite subjects - lighthouses!  Isn't this just a gorgeous inspiration photo?

Once I saw the photo, I just knew I had to use one of my lighthouse sets from Mark's Finest Papers, a Heinrich Company.  I pulled out the Light My Way stamp set and stamped my lighthouse in memento tuxedo black onto MFP white storm premium paper before coloring everything with prismacolor markers.  Once my coloring was done, I lightly stippled some bashful blue ink around the edges of the lighthouse before stippling a touch of Adirondack sunshine yellow by the light and then some Tim Holtz stormy sky and a touch of Adirondack caramel ink around the edges as well. I then took the Vacation Messages mini set and stamped some grass in Tim Holtz forest moss ink before adding my saying from You Light Up My Life stamp set.  After embossing some gray card stock using a Tim Holtz retro circles embossing folder and stippling some nite of navy ink over the raised images, I was ready to add some brads, circle clips and some white/navy organdy ribbon.

Hello Flowers

Hi all.  I couldn't sleep the other night since I was in so much pain from a migraine, so I decided to take a digital image I've had on my stamp desk and put it to good use as a second card for this week's For Your Inspiration #26 challenge and also for one on Splitcoast.  As a reminder, here's the inspiration picture from FYI.

The digital image I used is a freebie from Sliekjestamps and is so cute to color with prismacolor markers, especially when combined with My Time Made Easy's Amour digital paper. Then I stamped my saying using Mark's Finest Papers, a Heinrich Company You Light Up Your Life stamp set. Once my coloring was finished, I took some scrap olive card stock and die cut three borders using The Cat's Pajamas icing border die, then punched two sets of faux brads from scrap razzleberry card stock before gluing them on with a Martha Stewart 2-way glue pen.  Then, I lightly stippled bashful blue and wild wasabi inks around my main image before popping it up over the die cut border.  My final embellishments were ice stickles on the flowers and some Stampin Up! razzleberry satin ribbon.

Hello Dogwoods and Butterflies

This week's For Your Inspiration challenge is another gorgeous photo (attached below).  I just love the colors here since they remind me of early fall in Yosemite when all of the leaves are changing colors.  When I combined this challenge with the Teapot Tuesday challenge this week, I not only had great inspiration, but I couldn't go wrong with whatever stamp set I chose to use.

For my project, I pulled out two of my favorite Mark's Finest Papers, a Heinrich Company stamp sets, Dogwood Blossoms and Hello Butterflies.  After stamping my images in memento tuxedo black ink onto Snow Storm Smooth premium paper, I pulled out my prismacolor markers and got to coloring making sure to cut out several blossoms and the butterflies to pop up later.  Once the coloring was done, I pulled out my stipple brush and lightly stippled Stampin Up! bashful blue ink around the main image before overstamping my saying in memento tuxedo black then layering and adhering to a razzleberry card.

Magical Things Happen - For Your Inspiration

Hello and happy Saturday!!  I recently found this incredible challenge blog called For Your Inspiration.  They have some of the most beautiful inspiration photos I've seen!  Can you say WOW!!  This week's photo (below) is just awe inspiring.  I love the blue/white combination and would just love to be in this picture somewhere just sitting somewhere with a cuppa and taking it all in.

Isn't that photo just awesome!!!  I decided to combine it with a couple of other challenges I was working on, including the Moxie Fab Cure For The Winter Blues (although I used bright blue instead of navy - I'm a rebel) and this is what I came up with.

After stamping my Winter Crocus flowers from Mark's Finest Papers, a Heinrich Company in memento tuxedo black on Snow Storm Smooth and colored with prismacolor markers, I pulled out my stipple brush and lightly stippled Adirondack Sailboat Blue and Caramel inks around the edges of the image before layering on Snow Storm Smooth and Bang Up Blue Linen premium papers before adding some Making Memories baby brads.  I then added my saying making sure it matched the main image.

I then pulled out my swirl cuttlebug embossing folder and ran it through the big shot with Snow Storm Smooth before stippling some more Sailboat Blue ink over the raised edges.  A clean and fairly simple card done in about 20 minutes.  Not bad while dealing with another migraine.  I'm really pleased with this one.
