Recycled Medication Bottles

Welcome to the June Recycled Artistry IG Hop hosted by @newdawncards and @createwithkas ♻️ We’re taking recycling to the craft room and giving new life to discarded items in a creative way. From paper towel rolls, junk mail envelopes, cereal boxes, bubble wrap and so much more, we encourage you to look around and see if you can “use it before you lose it” to the trash! We post once a month on the 2nd Tuesday at 2 PM EST. To join, message Dawn or Kelly and tag us using #recycledartistryighop.  My project this month is recycling some empty medication bottles for the foster kittens I have.  I chose to decorate the bottles using the retired Pawsome Pals stamp set from Creative Worship (formerly Sweet N Sassy) stamps.

I started out by cleaning a few old medication bottles and letting them dry.  Once dry, I pulled out some scrap white card stock and stamped the Pawsome Pals images/saying in memento tuxedo black ink using my MISTI before coloring them using Lyra and Castle Art colored pencils.  I then stippled some going grey ink along the edges before adhering the panel using some 1/2 inch Scor-Tape.

His Eye Is On The Sparrow .......

...or in this case a Finch. :)

Hello and welcome.  Today I'd like to share a card I made using a digital image from Sweet N Sassy Stamps entitled Gold Finch.  Now I've had this image printed for some time and just haven't used it until now thanks to health, migraine and life in general.

After printing my finch on Neenah white card stock, I colored it using both prismacolor and copic markers before layering and adding some tiny black brads.  Once that was done, I pulled out my Timeless Hymns set and stamped the song words using my MISTI before layering and adding brads as well.  I then pulled out my paper pouncers and stippled Tim Holtz wild honey, scattered straw, frayed burlap and tea dye distress inks until I was satisfied with the coverage.  Taking both layered panels, I added them to a black card base using glue dots then added a small yellow bow from my stash.  As an afterthought, I then decided to distress the layered edges so I ran a fingernail along the edges until I was satisfied.  The final embellishments are a black 3D glaze pen highlighting parts of the finch, and frame, and a couple of yellow/gold sequins to finish it off.  I'm fairly happy with how this turned out considering I made it while dealing with this migraine that will not go away.  :(

Gnome Winter Wishes With Cocoa

Hello and welcome.  I finally got this card finished using a set from Sweet N Sassy Stamps called Winter Gnomes. It's currently on sale as it's being retired to their vault.  I love gnomes and I just had to have this set before it retired.

I started out by stamping the main image, sayings using my MISTI before stamping the snowflakes using a small acrylic block.  Once all of the stamping was completed, I colored it using prismacolor and copic markers before stippling some Tim Holtz stormy sky distress ink around my colored image to soften the white spots.  I then edged the sides of the main image panel using a red copic marker before layering and adding brads. Dusting off a pad of Debbie Mum Harvest & Holiday designer paper, I selected a couple to use as the background then adhered them to my card base before adhering the layered image panel to the card.  The final touches were some sequin snowflakes and ice stickles to highlight the mug of cocoa and snow on the ground.  I'm very happy with how this card turned out since it's another one of my migraine makes.  It was color or cry and crying just wasn't an option.

This Little Light Of Mine

Hello and welcome.  Today I'd like to share with you a project made using the Lighthouse digital stamp from Sweet N Sassy Stamps.

I started out by importing the image into a watermark program, then added the saying before printing the image onto Neenah white card stock.  Once all of that was done, I pulled out my Castle Arts watercolor pencils and got to coloring before layering and adding brads.  I then lightly stippled Tim Holtz tumbled glass distress ink around it before setting aside.  Taking a Cuttlebug© Bubbles embossing folder and my big shot©, then dry embossed the top of the card before lightly stippling Tim Holtz stormy sky distress ink over the embossed images.  I then added my layered image panel and adhered it using glue dots before adding four grey Dew Drops© to finish it off.

I'm really happy with how this turned out especially since I made it while dealing with yet another migraine.  It's gotten to the point of color/create or cry and crying hurts more than coloring.  I do know part of the migraine trigger has been the crazy weather we've had the last few weeks (BTW Mother Nature, you're drunk), another fall I had this last weekend  and the other part was stress related from my son going into severe diabetic shock and ending up in the ICU for 1 1/2 days.  Not fun.  He's home now so hopefully I can go back to just dealing with the weather.

Revelation 3:10 -11

Hello and welcome.  Today I'd like to share with you a little bible journaling.  The focus for this week is Rev 3:10-11 "Since you have kept my command to endure patiently, I will also keep you from the hour of trial that is going to come on the whole world to test the inhabitants of the earth.  I am coming soon.  Hold on to what you have, so that no one will take your crown."  When reading this passage, I think of cactus plants who patiently wait for the rains to come to refresh, and renew, their thirst for life giving water.

So I pulled out my Thirsty Soul (now retired) set from Sweet N Sassy stamps, that I hadn't used yet, and stamped the images and sayings in my Bible before coloring using Castle Arts watercolor pencils.  Once I was finished coloring, I lightly stippled Tim Holtz tumbled glass distress ink around my images using a paper pouncer.

Floral Blessing Cup

Hello and welcome.  Today I'd like to share a card I made for a friend battling cancer and wanted her to know just how much she means to me.  My card uses the In This Together digital stamp set from Sweet N Sassy stamps.

I started out by combining the floral cup image, and saying, in photoshop before printing it onto Neenah white card stock then colored it using some of the few Copic markers I have.  Once the coloring was finished, I cut it down to size and layered it before adding some pink brads.  For my card, I dry embossed a Cuttlebug Stylized Flowers on the front of the card before lightly sanding the embossed images.  I then lightly blended some Tim Holtz tattered rose distress ink around my main image to help soften the white a bit.  After adhering the layered image to my card using glue dots, I dug through my stash and found a wooden bee/ladybug stickers to add to the card.  The final touch was color spritzing some regal rose marker over the card.

Love and John 3:16

Hello and welcome.  Today I'd like to share a one-layer, non-traditional, card with you I've made for my husband for Valentine's Day using one of Sweet N Sassy Stamps digital images and a long retired Stampin Up sayings set.   Using this image is very important for my husband's card since we met at my church's Valentine's dinner put on by the youth group.  My, now, hubby was my blind date set up by his best friend (the youth pastor at the time) and my mother (yup my mother).  We've been married for 33yrs now.

I started out by printing the John 3:16 Bible image on Neenah white card stock before coloring using my Castle Arts colored pencil set.  Once I was finished coloring, I stamped the "love" from Stampin Up's retired Wonderful Words set in memento tuxedo black ink.  I then stippled some Tim Holtz tattered rose distress ink using my paper pouncers before adding Stampin Up regal rose ink around the edges using my blending brushes.  After highlighting the lily stamen stems using a yellow Sakura Moonlight 3D gel pen, I decided the card was finished.

Prayer Journal

Hello and welcome.  I've been trying for a few weeks now to make a prayer journal for my husband, however, my health had other ideas.  Between migraines and a sinus infection with bronchitis, I've had absolutely no energy, let alone get creative.  Hoping the antibiotics help me feel better soon and Mother Nature decides to play fair with the wind/rain California's getting right now.

After digging through my stash to find that composition book I bought during the back to school sales, I adhered lots of Scor-tape over the front of the book before adhering a 12x12 sheet of "sea painting" designer paper I've had for years and never used.  Once that was done, I I took some 49 and Market washi tape I won a while back, also never used, along the edge of the cover before adding card stock and more washi tape inside the front cover.  Taking some scrap white card stock, I then die cut the prayer journal letters using a Sizzix alphabet set I received from a friend when she had to down-size her stamp room for a move.  I then stippled on some Tim Holtz old paper, faded jeans, tattered rose, aged mahogany and stormy sky distress inks over the letters to help them subtly blending in with the designer paper.  Finally, I die cut from scraps two crosses from Spellbinders Cross Collection (now retired) dies with one cross for the inside cover.  After stippling some Stampin Up wisteria ink over my die cut cross, I adhered the letters first then my cross using some Bearly Arts glue.

Turning my attention to the inside front cover, I first stamped my To God Be The Glory hymn title from Sweet N Sassy's  Timeless Hymns, onto scrap white card stock before die cutting it out using my Spellbinders Labels 7 dies and my Big Shot making sure to also die cut the remaining layers from scraps as well.  Before adhering all the hymn layers together, I stippled the same Tim Holtz inks around the hymn.  After adhering the layers, I then added the second cross I had die cut earlier using the Bearly Arts glue.  I then took my Martha Stewart punches and punched out several ferns, pine spring, butterflies and flowers using up some scraps to make my own floral sprays for the inside.  Once everything was adhered I finished them off by highlighting the hymn using a 3D glaze pen and then adding some Stampendous Class-A-Peels stickers I've had for years and haven't finished using up yet.   I'm happy with how the journal turned out for my husband, especially since it took three weeks to put it together while sick.

Clean And Simple Jar Vase

Hello and welcome.  I'd like to share with you a card using a digital stamp I recently bought and haven't done anything with.  I originally did the coloring while my husband watched the news end of December, it just took until now to complete them.  I've been sick and just have not had the energy to do much of anything.

First up is a cute little clean and simple card using the bottle bouquet from Sweet N Sassy Stamps.  After printing the image onto Hammermill white card stock, I colored it using Castle Arts pencils before highlighting parts of the image using 3D glaze pens.  I then stamped the saying from Sweet N Sassy script sentiments set, I received as a gift, in memento tuxedo black ink then highlighted it using a black 3D glaze pen.  The final touch were some blue sequins from a retired Picket Fence Studios sequin mix called Spiked Ocean Water.  Done! I'm really happy with how this one turned out considering how I've been feeling.
