A Couple Of Clean And Simple Birthdays

Since getting COVID added wtih my chronic migraines, I have been feeling like garbage.  So, I decided to make a couple of clean and simple birthday cards using an old Inkadindadoo clear stamp set I've had for years and never used.  That way I could, at least, try focusing on something other than my health.

First card up is a one layer card.  I started out by stamping the lizard image/saying in memento tuxedo black ink onto a small scrap of white card stock before coloring with Castle Arts pencils.  I then stamped the inside saying after carefully cutting it in half so it would fit.  I then stamped the lizard again coloring with colored pencils.

Challenges entered:

My second card also uses scrap card stock with an Inkadinkadoo image stamped onto scrap white, colored using Castle Arts pencils as well.  After layering the stamped image onto a black scrap, I added brads as the only embellishment.

Thanks for stopping by today.  Have a great day!

Faux Sewing - Virginia's View Challenge #3

I've finally decided to try my hand at one of the monthly Virginia's View Challenges. This month's challenge is stitching, or in other words sewing, which I do not like at all.  Fortunately for me, one of the options of the challenge is faux sewing or stitching, so that's what I'm going to embellish with.

I pulled out one of my favorite Inkadinkadoo images and stamped it in memento black on white card stock before coloring with prismacolor pencils then stippling Tim Holtz tumbled glass distress ink for the sky around the top half of the image.  For the bottom half, I stippled some Stampin Up! garden green ink to help blend in the grassy area.  After piercing my layered image, I then "sewed" along the pierced dots using a black marker before adding to an embossed blue/white card with a stamped saying.

Thanks for stopping by today.  Have a great day.

Do We Give God Headaches?

HAPPY MOTHER'S DAY!!!  Make sure you've called, or hugged, your mom today.

When I first saw this sentiment from Inkadinkadoo last year, I just had to buy it on the spot!  The stamp is part of Inkadinkadoo's "kids say the darndest things" line.  So when I saw this week's 4 Crafty Chicks Sentiment only challenge, I definitely had to use this stamp!

After stamping my sentiment in Stampin Up! night of navy ink onto bashful blue card stock, I pulled out my spellbinders wonky labels to die cut my layers.  Then, after running a cuttlebug houndstooth embossing folder through the big shot, I stippled some night of navy ink over the raised "images" before adhering my layered saying and adding some white baby brads.  Since the card still seemed somewhat plain at that point, I then pulled out a MFT daisy die-namic and die cut 3 sets of flowers with leaves, stippled navy ink on the top/bottom layers before adhering to my card.  For my final touches, I decided to add some blue gem stickers to the centers of the flowers and then slightly curl the flower/leaf ends up.

Thanks for stopping by today.  Have a great day.

Bird's Nest Color Throwdown

Hi there. Here's another card that only took me 20 minutes to make and 3 days to upload thanks to an aggravating migraine started by some nasty perfume someone at work just had to wear. Ugh!

This is my entry for the Color Throwdown #85, and the last one for a while according to the CTD blog. Unfortunately, I wasn't able to do all of the challenges, but I did have fun with them.

The image is stamped in memento tuxedo black and colored with Prismacolor watercolor pencils and a blender marker. Afterwards, I lightly stippled Stampin Up! bashful blue dye ink around the bird and nest to fill in the remaining white spots before stamping an old retired script background stamp and then adding some glittered silk flowers.

Watercolored Sympathy

I had the need for a sympathy card this last week and had an Inkadinkadoo stamp for a while that really needed to see some ink. So I stamped this in memento tuxedo black on plain white Georgia Pacific white cardstock and then decided to pull out my Prismacolor Watercolor Pencils and a blender marker.

Let's just say I am impressed! I am in love with the way this image turned out. Stampin Up! going grey is lightly stippled around the outside edges of the image as well as the card itself. The saying is an old retired Stampin Up! set who's name escapes me right now.

It's amazing how clean and simple can be so pretty sometimes.
