Lighting Candles and Listening Friends

Hello and welcome.  Although I'm still dealing with migraines, I needed a couple of birthday cards for some in-laws so I decided to pull out my Art Impression Fire Out set to make one.  I just LOVE this set to use for nice snarky birthday cards.  My late step-dad would have loved this set too since he was a fire captain for Cal Fire here in California.

I started out by stamping my image/saying in memento tuxedo black ink onto a white scrap before coloring using Lyra and Castle Arts pencils.  Once my coloring was finished, I stippled some Tim Holtz Tattered Rose distress ink and Stampin Up Rose Red ink around/over the image panel before layering and adding some brads.  I then added the layered panel onto a rose red card that was dry embossed using a Cuttlebug birthday embossing folder and my big shot. I then stippled more rose red ink around the edges of the card.  The only other embellishments added was a pink organdy ribbon on the side and using a Sakura 3D glaze pen for the glasses.

My second card to share is using an adorable Pooh and Piglet image from Dina Kowal Digital designs.  The image is Classic Pooh and I love how some of the images in the set are already combined for an A2 sized card.  Although I can work with digital stamps, I'll admit to still trying to figure out my Photoshop program.

After printing the image onto Hammermill white card stock, I colored is using my dusty Prismacolor watercolor pencils and blender marker.  Once my coloring was finished, I stippled some Tim Holtz Tumbled Glass and Walnut Stain around the edges of the colored image and my card base.  Once I had my image panel layered, I added some faux brads before adding to my card.  The card base also had a panel of Classic Pooh digital paper.  The only embellishments added was some primas flowers I've had for years and some crystal ice stickles highlighting the snowy path, faux brads, and center of the flowers along with some kraft thread on the side.

Birthday Wishes, Thanks And Sunflowers For Ukraine

Hello and welcome.  Today I'd like to share with you a couple of cards I've made over the last few days.  I colored them while my husband was watching the news and assembled them today while he was making cookies.  Yes, he's the cook in our house and a really good one too since he grew up in a restaurant.  I've continued to color and make cards even thought I'm dealing with migraines and COVID to help me deal with the anxiety of not getting better from COVID faster and the invasion of Ukraine.  I can't do much to help the Ukranians except to make cards to support them.

My first card uses a free digital image from Cha Lion's Instagram account.  After printing it off onto Neenah white card stock, I colored it using Castle Arts pencils before stippling Tim Holtz broken china and mowed lawn distress inks then layered.  Once I had added brads and adhered the layered image to my card, I added some Picket Fence Gin and Tonic sequins (retired) using Ranger Glossy Accents to adhere them.  I'm really happy with how the card turned out.

My second card uses an Angie Blom's digital image from the Seas The Day digital set I've had for a while and never used.  I started out by printing the image onto Hammermill white card stock then colored it using Castle Arts pencils.  I then lightly stippled some Tim Holtz tumbled glass distress ink using my Picket Fence Studios blending brush before layering and adding brads.  I then took a fingernail to the edges of the bottom layer before adhering to my card.  The only embellishments were crystal ice stickles.

My final card uses some stamps I bought at stamp convention in 2004 from A Stamp In The Hand (closed I think) and have rarely used.  Why, I don't know.  The set is fabulous to work with and so is the script stamp also from 2004.  I started out by inking the pomegranate stamp using Stampin Up markers before stamping onto glossy card stock four times.  I then did the same with the cherry stamp before over stamping the script (also A Stamp In The Hand) in memento tuxedo black ink.  I then lightly stippled aged mahogony and tea dye distress inks using my Picket Fence blending brushes.  After the ink had dried, I then color spritzed Stampin Up old olive and bravo burgundy markers before layering and adding brads.  I then used a Martha Stewart jumbo punch to punch the saying and flower before adhering them to my card. I then took a Sakura 3D black glaze pen and "embossed" the punched saying.  After adding a pearl bling, the card was finished.

It's Birthday Time!

Hello and welcome.  Today I'd like to share a birthday card I made for a few challenges.  I had found some laser cut wooden embellishments at the Dollar Tree ($1.25 for 6 embellies) and just had to find a way to use them especially since they matched so well with this Rubbernecker Stamps Watches #2 stamp (retired) I've also had for years and never used yet.

I started out by stamping directly onto some scrap Basic Gray designer paper I bought at Michael's several years ago for 10 cents (that's right $.10 cents) in Adirondack espresso ink before adding the stamped paper to a river rock card.  Once that was done, I lightly stippled matching river rock ink over the stamped images before stippling the espresso around the edges of my card.  After adding the wooden embellishments using Ranger glossy accents to adhere, I dusted off my Stampin Up Sincere Salutations (retired) set and stamped the saying in espresso ink onto scrap card stock before adding brads and stippling river rock around it.  I'm pretty happy with how this turned out especially since I'm still feeling pretty yucky from COVID.  I'm so hoping the new meds help me start feeling better.

Birthday Ocean

Hello and welcome.  Today I'd like to share a birthday card made for my brother in law using several sets/dies from Picket Fence Studios and a dusty Spots and Dots Cuttlebug embossing folder.

I started out by stamping several fish from a never before used (NBUS) One Year Older set in memento tuxedo black, on several scrap white panels, before coloring using Castle Art pencils.  Once all of my coloring was finished, I stamped the sea "floor" items in several memento colors from the following sets: Dose Of Vitamin Sea, Little Coral Girl (NBUS), and Schools of Fish (retired/sold out).  I then stippled Stampin Up bliss blue, pacific pointe and Tim Holtz brushed corduroy using Picket Fence Blending Brushes until I was happy with the coverage.  I then took a large scrap piece of bliss blue card stock and a pacific pointe card, dry embossed it using my Spots and Dots embossing folder and Big Shot before stippling matching ink over the embossed images.  Once the card was ready, I layered the image panel and added brads before adding to the card.  For the inside of the card, I stamped my sayings onto more white scraps, stippled bliss blue ink and then added to the card's inside.  As an afterthought, I added two die cut fish to the top inside panel before stamping additional fish and sea floor items masking as needed.  After popping up the die cut fish to the outside, adding white gel pen "bubbles" and ice stickles, my card was finished.  I'm really happy with how it turned out since I'm still dealing with COVID symptoms (trust me you don't want to get COVID).
