Garden Gnomes

 

 

Hello and welcome.  Short post today as I've been dealing with a nasty migraine and a fibromyalgia flare since the weekend, to the point of crying, but that would have hurt worse.  So I forced myself to do something creative just to keep my sanity and used some images from Conjurer of Dreams along with this week's progressive freebie.  After adding the gnomes from a special set Kim made me, I added the butterflies, dragonflies and saying digitally so all of my layers would already be there for a one layer mailing since postage continues to go up like everything else. I'm really happy with how it turned out.  You can find out more about the COD progressive challenge in the Inspiration Group.

Just Because Tulips

 

Hello and welcome.  Today I'd like to share with you a mini slimline card made using the Angie Blom Just Because stamp set from Unity Stamps. 

I started out by stamping everything in Memento tuxedo black ink onto Copic white card stock, before coloring the tulips using my new Ohuhu Honolulu markers before blending tumbled glass distress ink left over from a previous project.  Once that was finished, I layered the image, added brads before adhering it to a red card base. I then added some fire bling, red bow and two wooden ladybugs.  As an afterthought, I added some "trail dots" using a black 3D glaze pen for the ladybugs.

Vintage Flowers

 Hello and welcome.  Today I'd like to share a card made over the last several days coloring it only as I felt up to it.  My card is using Gecko Galz Background Check digital stamp set.

Once I was done printing the image at 3.5x5, to make it easier to color, I pulled out my Castle Arts watercolor pencils and colored the flowers, stems, butterfly and bee blending the colors using a blending pencil.  Once I was finished, I blended Tim Holtz tea dye and old paper distress inks using my blending brushes.   After layering the colored image, and added rose colored brads, I adhered it to my card using glue dots.  The final touch was adding some flat-backed vanilla pearls that found in my stash, never having been used.

A Vase Of Poseies Just Because

 

Hello and welcome.   One more post from me today.  I've been wanting to use this old Hero Arts stamp I received in a de-stash box when a friend had to move cross-country.  The stamp is from 2003 and still stamps images beautifully.

I started out by stamping the vase/posies in memento tuxedo black on to Hammermill white card stock then colored using both Prismacolor and Copic markers before layering and adding brads.  My card was made using a damask stencil I received in another de-stash box using my paper pouncers and some Tim Holtz broken china distress ink.  Once I had adhered the layered image, I dug out some fibers I've had for years then stamped the just because onto scrap white card stock then punched it out, and a layer, using my Stampin Up oval punches.  The final touch was adding some faux stitches using a black gel pen.

Weathered Wreath

 

Hello and welcome.  Today I'd like to share a card made using an embossing folder/die set I received as a RAK last year that I've finally gotten a chance to use (NBUS).  

I started out by using the wood grain embossing folder, and my big shot, to dry emboss an espresso card panel then stippled some Tim Holtz walnut stain distress over the raised images using my paper pouncers.  I then layered the embossed layer, added brads and distressed the edges using my Tim Holtz paper distresser then adhered the layered panel to a espresso card base using glue dots.  Taking several snippets/scraps of card stock from my stash, I then die cut the wreath, leaves and flowers.  Once again taking my paper pouncers, I stippled Tim Holtz tattered rose, mowed lawn, and frayed burlap distress inks until I was satisfied with the coverage, then I adhered everything using my Bearly Art glue.  At this point, I felt I needed a few more flowers, so I dug out my pre-punched hydrangea's and selected a few of those, and adhered them after stippling more tattered rose ink on them.  The final touches are a pink satin bow and some Stampendous bling stickers I've had for YEARS in the center of the flowers.  The extra blank space underneath the wreath will have a saying added when I decide what I want there.  The whole card, and die cutting, was fairly easy to do even with a migraine (still).

Recycled Brush Holder

 Hello and welcome.  Today I have a quick, and easy, project to share using a recycled tin can, some stickers, paper flowers and a long retired Stampin Up jumbo wheel. 

I started out by rinsing out a can of garbanzo beans/chickpeas and letting it dry thoroughly.  Taking a long piece of scrap Neenah white card stock, I inked up the dry brush jumbo wheel using my Tim Holtz walnut stain distress ink pad by rolling the wheel across the pad several times.  Once I had the whole scrap covered, I adhered it to the can using 5/8 x 27 in Scor-Tape.  Digging into my stash of stickers and such, I pulled out a strip of ivy and bee stickers I've had for who knows how long, and an old package of Making Memories purple paper flowers.  I started out by adhering the flowers using glue dots before adhering the ivy and bee stickers.  The final touch was adding some crystal ice stickles to the flower centers.  I'm really happy with how this "can" turned out especially since I've been dealing with a nasty migraine from the weather we've had here lately (and still have).   One less "thing" going into a landfill or the ocean.
