Holla! - October TCP Tuesday

Hello and welcome.  This month's TCP Tuesday challenge was to use, or not to use, any embellishments.  I ended up making two cards for this challenge, however, for the first one I put buttons on it at the last minute and had to toss that - thank goodness HYCCT was going on so I could use the card there.  However, I digress.  Here's my corrected card with NO embellishments - migraine and all.  This was soooo much harder for me than I thought it was going to be even with keeping the card clean and simple.  Yikes!

Thanks for stopping by today.  Have a great and safe Halloween tommorrow.

12 Days of Christmas Bath Salts Jar

Hello and welcome to day 3 of Mark's Finest Papers, a Heinrich Company's 12 Days of Christmas Challenge.  Today's challenge is Bath Salts Jar and you can find the tutorial here on SpeedyTV.

My project uses the Presents stamp set along with a plastic jar from my stash and my Marvy scallop giga punches.  After stamping the images in memento tuxedo black onto white card stock and coloring with prismacolor markers, I cut everything out before adding to a designer paper wrapped jar using glue dots.  For the topper, I punched two pieces of scrap paper then added the cardinal using glue dots.  My only embellies are some ribbon, ice stickles, and a homemade gift tag using the Holiday Tag set.

Thanks for stopping by today.  Have a great day and don't forget to participate in the challenge for a chance to win some awesome prizes!!!

Stamps: MFP Presents, Holiday Tag

Both of my projects for you using today's featured set, Fall Apples, also use some Recollections designer paper and felt apples from my stash I had forgotten about.  You have to love the rediscovery of "old toys". LOL

For my first project after stamping the main images in memento tuxedo ink and coloring with prismacolor markers, I stippled some Tim Holtz tumbled glass distress ink around the apple branches for the sky before adding some birds from Scenic Selections then layering.  The only embellishments added to the card were the felt apples/acorn, brads, and diamond ice stickles highlighting the centers of the blossoms.

My second card also had the main image stamped in memento tuxedo black and colored with prismacolor markers before stippling Tim Holtz tumbled glass and brushed corduroy inks for both the sky/ground.  As an after thought once the layering was done, and before adding some vintage looking brads, I decided to stamp some grass in some forest moss distress ink from Scenic Selections before adding a felt apple and popping the panel up over a stamped border.

Thanks for stopping by today.  Have a great day and don't forget to stop by the rest of the design team blogs to leave some love for a chance to win today's featured set.

For this month's hop, I decided to make another framed project, so I pulled out one of my $1 store frames along with the Huge Blooms and Dragonflies mini then started stamping images in memento tuxedo black onto white card stock before coloring with prismacolor markers.  Once I was finished coloring, I cut out the additional images, assembled my frame then popped up the cut out blooms before adding some diamond ice stickles to help hightlight the bloom centers.

I love panda bears!!!  I'm just saying, so when Mark's Finest Papers, a Heinrich Company created this month's new Pandas set, I was so excited.  I started out by stamping my panda in memento tuxedo black onto some scrap white card stock before coloring with prismacolor markers then stippling Tim Holtz tumbled glass distress ink around it and layering.  Once that was done, I stamped a background using the bamboo image from Wealthy Fish and the new Dragonflies mini before coloring where needed, stippling, layering and adding some matching brads to both sets of images.  The rest of the card I kept pretty simple as well with just adding a sheer pink ribbon to the side and then my punched saying to the bottom.

Thanks for stopping by today.  Have a great day and don't forget to stop by the rest of the design team blogs for a chance to win today's featured set.

Pink Bobby Socks

Hello.  Today I'm sharing a card I made for one of the Splitcoaststampers Hope You Can Cling To punch/die challenges and for the annual Link Up For Pink blog challenge.  Having lost both my mom and grandmother to breast cancer, I'm definitely a supporter of breast cancer research.

My card was made in memory of my mom whom grew up in the 50's with the bobby socks, Elvis, juke boxes, drive in's, etc.  I started off by printing a Sassy Studio Design bobby sock digi onto white card stock then coloring it with prismacolor markers before die cutting it with a spellbinders oval die.  Then I die cut several music notes before dry embossing a couple of layers of pink card stock using an allegro embossing folder with my big shot and sponging regal rose ink over the embossed musical notes before assembling my card.  The final touch was to add some Heidi Swap photo corners and Recollections music note brads to die everything together.  This sassy girl sure looks like my mom in some of her high school photos.

Thanks for stopping by today.  Have a great day.

I love the fall season and today's featured set helps to celebrate the beautiful colors of the season.  I started out by stamping my images from I Am Thankful and the Pumpkins and Sunflowers mini in memento tuxedo black before coloring with prismacolor markers, then cutting out for popping up later.  Once the coloring and cutting was finished, I stamped a background and border in summer sun and mustard inks using the sunflowers from the Pumpkins and Sunflowers mini before popping up my cut out images.

My second project is made using the turkey from the I Am Thankful set and the scenic stamping KISS (keep it simple stamper) method.  After stamping the main image onto some scrap white card stock and coloring with prismacolor markers, I lightly stippled some Tim Holtz distress inks for both the ground and sky before adding my saying.  Once I added my layers, and brads, it was time to add some birds and grass from Scenic Selections before popping the entire panel up over a stamped border from the Pumpkins and Sunflowers mini.

Thanks for stopping by today.  Have a great day and don't forget to stop by the rest of the design team blogs to leave some love for a chance to win today's featured set.

Works of Art and Wise Men

Hello and welcome.  Today I am sharing two cards I've made for today's Mark's Finest Papers, a Heinrich Company's sneak peeks for this week's new release blog hop.

My first card will be one of my Christmas cards for this year and was made using the new Wise Men mini stamp set.  After stamping my main image in memento black and then stippling various Tim Holtz distress inks to re-create the night Jesus was born.

My second card showcases the new set Works of Art combined with some Basic Grey Kioshi designer paper from my stash.  After stamping my cherry blossoms in memento tuxedo black and coloring with prismacolor markers, I lightly stippled Tim Holtz tumbled glass distress ink around the edges to help fill in the sky before adding brads and popping up over a border strip.

Thanks for stopping by today.  Have a great day and don't forget to stop by the rest of this week for the new release blog hop.  You won't want to miss it!

Vellum Candle Tutorial

Hello!!  Today I am the Featured Designer over on Mark's Finest Papers blog as well as being the Stamp Artist of the Month for Oriental Stamp Art OSA.  Today I am going to share with you the tutorial on how I make my vellum candles.

SUPPLIES:
Stamps - Koi Fish, Dragonflies by Mark's Finest Papers, a Heinrich Company
Memento Tuxedo Black Ink
Tim Holtz Tumbled Glass Distress Ink
Stipple Brush
Vellum Card Stock
Glue Dots
Black Marker
Candle
Battery Operated Votive
Googlie Eyes
Rose Art Colored Pencils
Drill Press (or other means to hollow out candle)

DIRECTIONS:

1. Using drill press, or other means, hollow out the center of the candle deep enough for a battery operated votive to be placed inside just below the rim.

2. Take vellum card stock and wrap it around the candle.  Then place a tic with a pencil just below the top of the rim.

3. Next, cut the vellum card stock down to size length wise.

4. Stamp images in memento tuxedo black ink, allow to dry -  overnight is best.  You may speed up the drying time by using an embossing gun, just make sure not to burn the vellum.

5. Flip stamped vellum image over, and on backside color using varying shades of Rose Art colored pencils as desired.

6.  Once coloring is finished, add in dragonfly flight lines using a black marker and allow to dry.

7.  Stipple Tim Holtz tumbled glass distress ink for the "pond" and allow to dry.

8.  Wrap around candle and attach using glue dots.  Add googlie eyes to koi fish using micro glue dots then ice stickles to lotus flowers and lily pads - allowing to dry.  Place battery operated votive inside.
