Flap Your Wings

Hello and welcome to the weekend!!  Today I am sharing a card I made for a few challenges since they all just fit together nicely.  Once I saw this week's Play Date Cafe and Just Inspirational color challenges, I knew I had to pair them both with the new Crazy 4 Challenges butterfly challenge.  The colors all just screamed flowers and butterflies.  So I pulled out two of my favorite Mark's Finest Papers, a Heinrich Company sets, Hello Butterflies and Mother's Magnolia, and got to work stamping, even with a nasty migraine (thank goodness the meds were working).

I started out by stamping my flower images in memento tuxedo black onto snow storm smooth card stock, then colored with prismacolor markers before stamping one butterfly directly above the magnolia's and the rest onto scrap snow storm smooth card stock before coloring, then cutting out to pop up later.  Now I just had to have some sort of sky behind my butterflies, so I cheated a bit on the colors and added just a stipple or two of bashful blue to barely color the background before stamping my saying.

Once I had all of my layering finished, I then added the cut out butterflies by popping them up on dimensionals, then pinching the wings up a bit for some added dimension.  My only embellishments is some crystal ice stickles highlighting parts of the butterfly wings and some ripened tomato satin ribbon tied into a knot.

Born To Be Wild

Hello.  I hope you enjoyed the Mark's Finest Papers, a Heinrich Company blog hop last week and received lots of inspiration.

Today I am sharing a card I made, even with another migraine, for a couple of challenges.  I mean, when inspiration hits, I have to go with it even with the pain, or there's no sleeping off the headache for me.  My card was mainly inspired by the colors of the picture from this week's For Your Inspiration challenge.

Take a look - isn't this sunset just gorgeous?!  Keeping with the tropical theme, I pulled out some black and orange Stampin Up! card stock to go with my images from MFP's Big Cats stamp set.

Once I had my tiger stamped twice in memento tuxedo black onto snow storm smooth card stock, I pulled out my prismacolor markers and got to coloring before cutting one image out to pop up later and then stippling Tim Holtz tumbled glass distress ink around the edges of the layered tiger.  Then I pulled out my cuttlebug leafy branch embossing folder and dry embossed the card before adding a strip from MFP's Safari Fabric Collection tied in a knot with a tiger charm.  My final embellishments were some Making Memories black baby brads and some Colorbok black metallic stickers before popping up the cut out tiger image.

This card also fits a couple of other challenges I discovered this last week before the migraine set in:

Just Inspirational #29 - inspired by animal globe
For Your Inspiration #30 - inspired by colors from above picture
Tuesday Throwdown #98 - fabric challenge

Thanks for stopping by today.  Have a great Sunday!!
