Coffee and Joyful Stories

Hello and welcome.  Second post from me today.  I have a couple of cards that have been waiting to be blogged because of my ongoing health issues.

First up is the card I made for my husband for Valentine's Day - a little late.  I started out by die cutting the coffee mug and coffee saying twice using my CAS-ual Friday's dies (store now closed).  After setting the coffee saying aside, I blended some Tim Holtz tattered rose and aged mahogany distress inks over my cup before stamping the small hearts from a long retired Stampin Up Conversation Hearts stamp set.  I then stamped the rest of my sayings in memento tuxedo black before assembling my main image panel then layered.  My card base was created using a dusty Cuttlebug heart block embossing folder I've had for years with Stampin Up real red ink applied to it before running it, and the card, through my Big Shot.  Once my card was embossed, I stippled more real red ink around the edges before assembling my card.  The only embellishments added were some red sequins I found in my stash.

Second, I have a cute little one layer, clean and simple, card using a digital stamp from Rachelle Anne Miller called Woodland Snowman.  After printing the image on to Neenah white card stock, I colored it using Castle Arts and Lyra pencils before highlighting parts of the image using glitter gel pens and a black gel pen.  I then took a retired Stampin Up set called Perfect Ending stamped the "joy" in memento tuxedo black before adding a couple of Gin and Tonic sequins from Picket Fence Studios

Kit-Tea-Cat

Hello and welcome.  Today I'd like to share with you a quick, clean and simple, one layer card I made.  After a frustrating day with doctor's trying to figure out what's going on with me, I needed a quick and easy card to try and take my mind off of my health issues.

I started out by stamping the image, and saying, from the Newton's Nook Designs set called Newton's Mug, I bought last year and hadn't used yet.  After stamping the image/saying in memento tuxedo black ink, I colored it using my Castle Arts pencils before blending a couple of retired Stampin Up inks, summer sun and yo-yo yellow.  The only embellishment added are some white sequins I found in my stash.

Challenge 2306

 Sponsored by SheepSki Designs

Hello and welcome.  Today begins a new challenge over at Pammie's Inky Pinkies and this week we're being sponsored by Sheepski Designs.  I would like to thank them for their sponsorship and for providing images for the design team to use.  For my card, I am using their Christmas Box image.

After printing my image out onto Neenah white card stock, I colored it using Castle Arts and Lyra pencils before stippling Tim Holtz stormy sky and tumbled glass distress inks then layered it using scrap card stock I had set aside from another project.  After adding some red brads, I set the image panel aside to work on the card base.  My card is dry embossed using a Cuttlebug snowflake embossing folder, along with my Big Shot, before stippling more tumbled glass distress ink over the raised images.  As an afterthought, I then stippled picket fence distress ink over the raised images to "age" then a bit with broken china is stippled around the edges of the card.  I then stamped the "joy" in memento tuxedo black on a white scrap then punched it out using a retired Stampin Up oval punch before layering it on another punched blue scrap.  That was then added to my card using pop up glue dots.  The final touches were some white/silver bakers twine from my stash along with diamond ice stickles to highlight the snow.

Be Merry

Hello and welcome.  Today I'd like to share with you a clean and simple card I've had colored for some time but I just haven't completed it until now although I'm not sure why.  Possibly since I've been sick for the last 6 weeks and the doctors can't figure out what's going with me.  To top things off my hubby had to have surgery so life has been nuts.

I started out by printing my Christmas Tree digital image from  Rachelle Anne Miller Designs before coloring it using both Lyra and Castle Arts pencils.  Once my coloring was finished, I blended some Tim Holtz tumbled glass and broken china distress inks using my brushes from Picket Fence Studios before I stamped the saying in the right upper corner using a retired stamp from Stampin Up Warm Words set.  The only embellishments is yellow ice stickles highlighting the stars.

Does This Make My Butt Look Big?

Hello and welcome.  A bit of Christmas snark for you today (yes I've started on this years Christmas cards already)  especially since asking this question is usually...shall we say....taboo?  Of course, our cute little polar bear hasn't fully mastered the "rules" of what you do, and do not, ask/answer.

I started out by printing Self Conscious Paulie from Sweet N Sassy Stamps on Neenah white card stock before coloring her using both Prismacolor and Copic markers before stippling Tim Holtz tumbled glass and stormy sky distress inks.  I then cut the image down to size, layered using scrap card stock then added it to a green card left over from another project.  I then went and used 3D glaze pens to highlight all of the colored marker parts before adding my own "faux brads" using a red 3D glaze pen.

Clean And Simple Jar Vase

Hello and welcome.  I'd like to share with you a card using a digital stamp I recently bought and haven't done anything with.  I originally did the coloring while my husband watched the news end of December, it just took until now to complete them.  I've been sick and just have not had the energy to do much of anything.

First up is a cute little clean and simple card using the bottle bouquet from Sweet N Sassy Stamps.  After printing the image onto Hammermill white card stock, I colored it using Castle Arts pencils before highlighting parts of the image using 3D glaze pens.  I then stamped the saying from Sweet N Sassy script sentiments set, I received as a gift, in memento tuxedo black ink then highlighted it using a black 3D glaze pen.  The final touch were some blue sequins from a retired Picket Fence Studios sequin mix called Spiked Ocean Water.  Done! I'm really happy with how this one turned out considering how I've been feeling.

Woodblock Wednesday Watercolored Flower Celebration

Hello and welcome to another edition of Woodblock Wednesday.  I missed last month's Woodblock Wednesday with a migraine and flu bug at the same time.  In fact, I'm still dealing with it and it may have turned into something else.  Since I wanted to try and do my best to participate in this month's so I pulled out some old, retired, Hero Arts stamps I received from a friend and got to work.  I decided to "ink" the floral one by coloring directly onto the stamp image using my dusty Stampin Up watercolor crayons then misting it with water, then stamping it onto a Neenah white scrap repeating the steps three times.  I then inked a "grid" square shadow stamp using Tim Holtz tattered rose distress ink and over-stamping the grid on top of my flowers before pulling out a retired Stampin Up Wonderful Words wood set.  I then took a Picket Fence blending brush using it to stipple more tattered rose distress ink around the edges of my image panel.  After layering it, and adhering it to black card, I added some pink sequins to the flower centers that I found in my stash that I've had for ages and never used.
