A Quiet Day Fishing

I've had this fishing hole idea floating around in my head since Mark's Finest Papers, a Heinrich Company released the new Scenic Selections and Get Reel stamp sets and finally got a chance to put it to card stock when I saw the challenges for this weeks Party Time Tuesday's and Tuesday Throwdown.  I remember my dad taking me fishing and camping during the summer months while in elementary school.  I had so much fun and wanted to capture those memories.

I started out by stamping my images in memento tuxedo black ink onto MFP snow storm smooth and then colored with koh-i-noor pencils and a blender marker.  Once I coloring was done, I pulled out my stipple brushes and stippled some Tim Holtz tumbled glass distress ink and then along the sides before sponging my lake using Tim Holtz chipped sapphire distress ink and then stippling forest moss along the bottom.  Once I was satisfied with my ink coverage, I stamped some extra rocks and a butterfly, colored them, and cut out to pop up using pop dots before adding some vintage brads and highlighting the water ripples and grass with copic spica pens.

Pines and Pinecones - TJ Green & Brown Blogger Challenge

Hello and Happy Thursday!!  I found this bloggers challenge blog hop last week through Technique Junkies.  The challenge is to only use various shades of brown & green.  So with that in mind, I pulled out my Mark's Finest Papers, a Heinrich Company stamps and got to work only to be interrupted by yet another migraine, so one week later, here's my card.

I started out by stamping my pine branches from New Pines onto MFP corn husk card stock in Tim Holtz walnut stain distress ink and then coloring with prismacolor markers.  Then I stamped the extra pines from the New Pines and Ho Mini stamp sets in Tim Holtz Pine Needles distress ink before lightly stippling Brushed Corduroy distress ink over them and cutting out to pop up using dimensionals and pop dots.  Once that was done, I decided to add a couple of pine cones from the New Pines set stamped in walnut ink and stippled before cutting those out and popping them up as well.  My final embellishments were some vintage brads and copper cord tied into a knot.

Pansies & Best Wishes

Hello and welcome to Tuesday.  Sorry about the delay between posts, I've been down with another nasty migraine.  Will someone please ask Mother Nature to make up her mind here on the west coast.  Ugh!  This week's Moving Along With The Times challenge is all about celebrations, however, NO BIRTHDAY celebrations.  No sweat!  I can handle that especially when it just happens to coordinate with the Teapot Tuesday challenge over on Splitcoast.

Once I had stamped my images from Spring Flowers and Pansy Riot in memento tuxedo black ink onto MFP snow storm smooth card stock, I pulled out my prismacolor markers and got to coloring before cutting out some of the extra pansy images to pop up later for some added dimension.  Once all of my layering was finished, I stamped my saying onto scrap snow storm smooth card stock, layered, and added the same orange brads to match my pansy panel.

I decided to keep the inside saying of the card fairly generic so I could use it for any type of a celebration as needed.

Scenic Stamping

Last Tuesday, May 22nd, I was the Featured Designer over at SpeedyTV by Mark's Finest Papers, a Heinrich Company and I was asked to do a tutorial on Scenic Stamping after the May release blog hop using Scenic Selections.  If you haven't had a chance to check out the tutorial on SpeedyTV, here it is again.

Supplies Used:
Koh-I-Noor Pencils
Prismacolor Blender Marker
Stipple Brushes
MFP Card Stock
Memento Tuxedo Black Ink
Tim Holtz Distress Inks: Broken China, Tumbled Glass, Forest Moss
Flower Soft Summer Mix
Tacky Glue
Toothpick
Brads
Glue Dots


1) Start by stamping the church from Christmas In The County in memento ink onto snow storm smooth card stock.

2) Take the large trees from Scenic Selections and stamp in memento ink next to the church overlapping the branches if necessary.

3) Stamp the large fir trees from Scenic Selections in various spots around the church to help fill in some of the "gaps".

4) Next, take the medium fir tree, stamp only the top half of it near the bottom of your scene. Stamp additional images in scene if there are any gaps you want filled in with trees.

5) Stamp bird trio from Scenic Selections in sky area and butterfly onto scrap white card stock to cut out and add to scene later.

6) Color your images and scene, blending colors as needed. Stipple Tim Holtz tumbled glass distress ink lightly for the sky and forest moss around the edges of the "ground" to fill in.

7) Next, stamp pine bough from New Pines onto aqua card stock in Tim Holtz broken china distress ink and stipple around the edges to give the card itself some dimension.

8) Layer colored scene, add brads, then add to the stamped card.

9) Add Flower Soft© into bare trees to change the trees look from winter to spring/summer. Add tops of grass images, if desired, stamped in Tim Holtz forest moss distress ink in remaining gaps.

10) Cut out butterfly and add using glue dots, pinching the wings up to give it some dimension and to finish your project off.

I hope you give this tutorial a try.  Scenic stamping is really fun and not as hard as it looks.

Blue Blossoms and Plaid - My Time Made Easy Pretty Pattern Sketch #62

Hello and welcome to another My Time Made Easy Pretty Pattern Sketch challenge.  For my card this week, I pulled out one of my favorite MTME sets, Bold Botanicals.

Once I had stamped my images in memento tuxedo black onto white card stock, I pulled out my prismacolor markers and got started on coloring.  Since I had decided to go with a brightly colored theme, I also pulled out my pad of Basic Gray Lauderdale designer paper and matched up the paper to my card stock.

Tulips and Butterflies

Hi there and welcome to hump day.  I found the sketch on my friend Rainy's blog, aka Susan Roberts, this last weekend, and just had to make sure I got one done, migraine or no migraine, so while stamping my card for tomorrow's My Time Made Easy's sketch challenge I stamped some extra images for Susan's.

After stamping the tulip image from MTME's Bold Botanticals in memento tuxedo black, I pulled out my prismacolor markers and got to coloring before cutting one of the tulips out to pop up later.  I then stamped out, cut out, and colored, three butterflies making sure to pop them up at different levels after stippling bashful blue & razzleberry inks around the tulips.  Since I had decided on a brightly colored theme for my card, I also added some Basic Gray Lauderdale designer paper to the main image layers as well as the card itself.
