Tall Ship

Hello and welcome.  Today I'd like to share with you the card I made for my husband's birthday later this month.  It's safe to post now since with his stroke several years back, he unfortunately cannot remember how to operate computers.  He also loves tall ships and this pre-colored On The High Seas image from Conjurer of Dreams is perfect especially since I accidently found this map designer paper in my stash.  I have no idea how long I've had it.  Chalk it up to a happy accident.

After I printed the image on Neenah white card stock, and trimmed it down, I layered it and added copper brads then set aside after distressing the layer edges using a paper distresser.  Once I adhered the old world map designer paper, I stippled Tim Holtz fired brick distress ink around the edges before lightly stippling the leftover ink on the main image.  I also lightly stippled old paper distress ink over the map and main image to age them a bit.  The final touches were kraft thread around the edge and a wooden anchor from Dollar Tree.  I'm really happy with how this turned out.  It's been a painful day.

Hello and welcome.  Today begins a new challenge over at Pammie's Inky Pinkies and this week we're being sponsored by Varada Sharma. I would like to thank them for their sponsorship and for providing images for the design team to use.  My card today is featuring Varada's digital stamps Succulent Thrillers and Pretty Planters.

I started out by combining all of the images I wanted, plus saying, in PSE before printing the combined images on Neenah white card stock then colored using both Prismacolor and Copic markers.  Once that was finished, I layered the colored image making sure to distress the edges of each layer using a paper distresser tool before adding some olive brads I've had in my stash for years.  As an afterthought, I went back and lightly blended some mauve mist, stormy sky and olive green inks using blending brushes.  My card is dry embossed using a Cuttlebug© Moroccan screen embossing folder and my Big Shot©.  Once I had adhered the layered image panel using glue dots, I pulled out some Meraki Sparkle Green Illusion© gems and adhered those using Bearly Art Precision Glue©.  I then color spritzed mauve mist and old olive markers over the entire card before adding Ranger Glossy Accents to the "tiles" on the flower pot as the final touch.

Smile

Hello and welcome.  Today I'd like to share a card I made just because.  I've had a bad time dealing with my migraines, and life, lately so I wanted to do something that was just for fun.  Know what I mean?  So I pulled out one of my favorite stamp sets.  It's from Gerda Steiner Designs called Upside Down Flamingo which is unfortunately sold out at this time.

I started out by stamping the flamingo twice on scrap Copic card stock before adding the wood mounted palm trees next to it.  After pulling out my Prismacolor and Copic markers, I then fussy cut parts of the flamingo to pop up later.  I then lightly stippled Tim Holtz tumbled glass and stormy sky distress inks as my "ocean water" and sky/fog background.  After popping up the flamingo neck and body, I dug out my bottle of Meraki Sparkle Green Illusion gems and added a few of those.  The final touch was adding some "faux brads" in the corner by punching a small piece of scrap pink card stock and a small line of diamond ice stickles to highlight the water.

Stained Glass Florals

Hello and welcome.  Today I'd like to share with you a couple of cards I've been working on for the past couple of weeks.   It's taken me this long to finish both because I've had a nasty migraine that just wouldn't go away or even ease up a bit.  Both cards use the Stained Glass Beauty and Stained Glass Nature Jewel It collage sets from Gecko Galz.

First up is a tri-fold card.  After cutting out the birds/floral stained glass image that I had printed out for another project and never used, I layered it on scrap Recollections blue trio card stock before adding brads then running a finger nail along the edges to distress it before setting aside.  I then cut out one of the bird/floral images from the Jewel It set before layering, adding brads and distressing again using my fingernail.  I did the same for the third panel using the butterfly/floral image.  Taking some pacific point card stock, I added blue digital paper from the Seasons of Hope paper pack then added my layered image panels using glue dots.  I then pulled out all of my scrap card stock, Martha Stewart punches and paper crimper, and created my own floral sprays underneath each of the panels adhering them using Ranger's glossy accents.  To the flower centers, I added tiny blue bling crystals to finish my card off before stamping my greeting using a retired Stampin Up set called "Mixed Greetings".  I'm really happy with how this turned out.  Here's the other two panels:

My second card is using the stained glass flowers/sun image paired with another digital page from Seasons of Hope paper pack.  Once again after I edged the main image using a memento tuxedo black "cat eye" ink pad, I layered and added brads before setting aside.  I then took a more mustard card stock scrap and dry embossed it using a Cuttlebug floral/paisley (don't have original package to see name) and my Big Shot before lightly sponging more mustard ink over the embossed images.  After popping up the main image panel using pop dots, I added some tan fibers I've had in my stash for years, and I mean YEARS, along with a couple of prima flowers.  The only embellishment was adding a single bling gem to the center of the flowers.

Journaling My Week

Hello and welcome.  This last week was one I don't want to have to repeat  First, my migraines have been really bad to the point of crying from the pain.  Nothing was helping at all to ease the pain level, not even a little bit.  The weather certainly wasn't helping either (high 80's to mid 90's then dropping to low 70's with wind every day).  I'm not complaining about the 70 degree temps especially since I know triple digits are just around the corner.  Second, our washing machine died mid-load so we had to go and get a new washer with money we really don't have.  Third, my mojo up and left.  I had no interest in the things that normally make me happy.  However, I wanted to do something creative, so I decided to make a couple of art journal pages using images from Gecko Galz.  Once I had the images printed, I just added things that I liked.

The first page is made using one Gecko Galz free images from one of their blog posts. It kind of reminded me of "counting sheep" to fall asleep when I was little, but also with some flowers in a pond.  After I used my corner rounder on one side only, I layered the printed image, added brads, and distressed it using my paper distresser.  I then pulled a piece of "mesh" glitter card stock that I've had for years, added it to my art journal page before adding the layered image using glue dots.  After pulling out some scrap die cuts, I added those using Ranger's glossy accents before pulling out a baggie of buttons I've had for years and never used.  I then added those using the glossy accents as well. The final touches were spritzing some Seth Aptor ocean trio sprays, some Tattered Angels glitter spray, and diamond ice stickles to highlight the stars and water.  Once that was all dry, I added the page to my art journal using 1/2 inch score-tape.  Looking at the chaos of the page....yup pretty much how my week went.

My second page uses the freebie from this month's Gecko Galz Monthly Goth challenge.  Once I had printed the image, I layered it and added some faux brads before setting aside.  I then took a spiderweb stencil from Newton's Nook, and some paper pouncers and created my background using both going grey/basic grey inks.  Taking a retired Picket Fence Studios Cat Played Fiddle To The Silver Moon, I stamped the hand coming out of the ground on scrap white card stock before coloring using Prismacolor markers.  I then cut off the Happy Halloween saying and added that to the page to add a bit of "creepy" to the mix.  Digging through my stash of Prima© flowers, I finally found the tin with the black/white flowers and added those before punching several bats out of scrap black card stock.  Once I had the flowers adhered, I added the bats using my Bearly Art glue.  I then added some Crafty Meraki Midnight Shimmer Illusion to the page. Pulling out my old Stampin Up journaling stamp, I stamped it on scrap white card stock before adding my journaling.  After running a basic grey marker along the edges, I adhered it to my journal page making sure to add one more bat at the bottom.  As an afterthought, I dusted off my Tim Holtz lock and key die (retired) and using my old red Sizzix (you know that really heavy red thing), I die cut one set of lock and key.  After paper pouncing tea dye over both to age them, I distressed the edges before adding them to my page using glue dots.  I'm sure glad I kept that old Sizzix since the cat was sleeping on my Big Shot.

Sympathetic Floral Watering Can

Hello and welcome.  Today I'd like to share with you a sympathy card I made using a retired digital image from Gerda Steiner Designs.  I've had this image since 2019 but just haven't colored it until now since I needed a few more sympathy cards.

I started out by combining the image and my saying in a watermark program before printing several images on Neenah white card stock. I then colored them using both Prismacolor and Copic markers. Once my coloring was finished, I over-stamped a long retired Stampin Up sanded background using Tim Holtz old paper distress ink before running a Stampin Up night of navy marker along the image edge before layering.  Once I had added matching brads, I laid the layered image panel to the side.  My card base was made using a dusty Cuttlebug floral screen embossing folder and my Big Shot.  Once it was dry embossed, I sanded the edges using a sanding block.  After adding the image panel to the card using glue dots, I pulled out a wooden butterfly I found at Dollar Tree then using Ranger glossy accents to adhere it to my card.  The final touches were a scrap of navy grosgrain ribbon, bling to the butterfly's body before spritzing some navy marker over everything. As an after thought, I then went over parts of the image using black and white gel pens and added ice stickles to the flower centers.

A Steamy Smoky Fairy Night

Hello and welcome.  Second post today.  If you're looking for my Pammie's Inky Pinkies card, please scroll down one.

The card I'd like to share with you, I made last week while my migraines were really bad again.  It's either try to focus on something else and push through or crying which hurts more.   Fortunately the image was a pre-colored one from Gecko Galz for their monthly steampunk challenge so all I had to worry about was finishing the card.

After printing the image onto Neenah white card stock, I layered it using scraps making sure to distress the edges of each layer using a paper distresser before adding brads and setting aside.  The card base is dry embossed using a Sizzix© retro circle embossing folder run through my Big Shot© before slightly distressing the three edges of the card base.  I then added the layered image panel using pop up glue dots.  I then die cut three Tim Holtz mechanical gears on white card stock scraps before "coloring" them using Tim Holtz weathered wood, walnut stain, stormy sky distress inks and Stampin Up going grey (retired) dye ink using my paper pouncers before adhering them using glue dots.  Taking my MS punches (hydrangea and fern), I punched several flowers and ferns to create a floral spray in/around the die cut gears using Bearly Art glue.  The final touches were adding some kraft thread along the folded edge, ice stickles to the "lights" and smoky/black bling to the floral centers.  I'm not totally happy with how this turned out but I'm not starting over again.  Clearly I need more practice with Steampunk images.
