A Special HERO! My Time Made Easy Pretty Pattern Sketch Challenge 10

Hello everyone.  Welcome to another addition of My Time Made Easy's Pretty Pattern Sketch Challenge.  This week our sketch artist, Tangii, came up with an interesting one.  One I really had to think about for a bit.  However, once I was done thinking, it was pretty easy to put together especially when I decided to use this month's new digital release. 

Since Father's Day is coming up, I decided to break apart the For Dad digital set and use one of my favorite sayings as the centerpiece: "Any man can be a Father.  It takes someone special to be a Dad".  Isn't that so true?  Once that was downloaded and printed off, I decided to use the HERO saying that comes with the set as my card's "sideburns".  LOL 

Once I had everything downloaded, printed off, colored and cut out, I pulled out some black card stock to layer the saying on, rounding the corners, and adding some Making Memories black baby brads.  Once that was done, I layered it over some graph paper from MTME Sensational Staples digital paper.  The HERO sayings were then popped up on pop dots at an angle, slightly covering the main layered image. 

Once that was done, I decided to add the Sensational Staples digital graph paper to the inside as well, using the "DAD" saying from the For Dad digital set.  For the final touch, I added a small colored image from MTME Super Dad digital set.

May Blast From The Past!!!

It's that time again - Taylored Expressions Blast From The Past blog hop.  This month's hop challenge is to make a masculine card with no glitz, glitter or flowers.  I decided to use Taylored Expressions In The Park stamp set and focused on first time dads. 

I love that quote by Lance Armstrong.  Every new dad is nervous about holding their infant child for the first time even though they are filled with wonder and awe at the little bundle in their arms.  Mistakes will be made along the way while their child grows up, however, dad will learn from them and be a better dad for it too.  It's just like riding a bike.  If you never get on a bike, you won't have the risk of falling off.  If you fall, just get back on the bike and continue riding.

Speedy The Cat Monochromatic Challenge

Welcome! I decided to finally participate in one of the Speedy The Cat challenges over on the Mark's Finest Papers Blog.  I love using the monochromatic technique and this week's challenge was "right up my alley", especially since blue was the color chosen for the challenge.

I decided to use the Grandma's Boudoir stamp set and some different shades of blue ink (Memento Bahama Blue, Paris Dusk and Stampin Up! Night of Navy).  I started out by stamping my images onto Bang Up Blue in Memento Bahama Blue dye ink to create a background border on the card.  Then I stippled Stampin Up! Night of Navy around the edges and then lightly over the card center.  Once that was done, I took some K & Company vintage die cuts, edged them in SU Night of Navy using a marker, before adhering them to the card.

Taking the cameo stamp from Grandma's Boudoir, I stamped it twice onto Corn Husk paper before using a Marvy Jumbo oval punch on one of the images and then cut the second image out for popping up later.  I then took both my Marvy Mega & Giga Scalloped Oval punches and punched out two different shades of blue card stock for layering.  After stippling some Night of Navy ink onto the smallest layer, I popped up the cut out cameo before adding some Stampendous Class-A-Peel stickers on each of the scallop layers.

To finish the card off, I added some more of the K & Company die cuts on the inside before stamping my sentiment also from the Grandma's Boudoir set.  I just love the sentiments included in the set.  Some of them make awesome punch lines for birthday cards.

You're Vintage! - WSC 19

I'm finally getting a chance to participate, and post, for the My Favorite Things weekly sketch challenge.  I decided to go with a vintage look and use MFT's Inspired By Spring set paired with the new Lily Bee Picket Fence designer paper.  I really chose to be a rebel this week, and totally took the sketch a different direction. 


After stamping my images in memento tuxedo black onto vanilla card stock, I pulled out my prismacolor markers and got to coloring before cutting one nest and bird out to pop up later. I stippled some Stampin Up! bashful blue ink around the edges, and lightly in the middle, before I popped up my bird at the top of the sketch instead of using a tag like the sketch.  Once the nest was popped up, and flowers added to the side, I decided to add some blue dew drops over the circles in the designer paper for a different look.  Here's a close up of the nest and bird dimensions.

Taking the new Just My Type stamp and die set, I die cut some vanilla card stock before stamping one of the sayings onto the "paper" portion of the die.  I then stippled some Stampin Up! close to cocoa ink around the edges before adding some scrap designer paper to the bottom, and then a prima to finish it off.

All About Dad - It's A My Time Made Easy Digital Release!!!

Hello everyone!!!  Happy Sunday Evening!!  This month's My Time Made Easy digital release is just awesome!!!!  I had a blast making Father's Day cards using the new digital's and a month early at that!  I am never that organized for Father's Day.

First up is one of my favorites.  I remember growing up and thinking my dad was just like Superman, even after my parents divorced, so the new Super Dad Digi is perfect for the Super Dad in your house too.  I had this fantastic DCWV All About Boys designer paper pack that fit this image perfectly.  After printing off both of the digi's, and coloring with prismacolor markers, I cut one Super Dad image out to pop up for added dimension.  Dusting off my under used star punch, I punched two pieces of scrap paper and stamped some stars onto them before sponging matching ink around the edges.  It took forever to find the gold star brad I knew I had somewhere in the house, but I eventually found it and added the brad to the centers of the punched stars.  After adding some matching gold brads, and stippling some Stampin Up! bashful blue ink around the main image, I popped up the cut out image before adding some blue sticker buttons I've had for ages. 

Next up is also a memory maker for me.  During elementary school, my dad and I were a part of the YMCA Indian Guides program.  Every year there was a fishing contest during the annual Awahanee Nation camp out, so this Let's Go Fishing image was perfect to remind my dad about all of our wins.  Our tribe, or clan, The Happy Palm Tree clan, always managed to win all of the spots in the fishing contest for some reason.  Us girls seemed to take turns winning first place.  I sure remember baiting the line, tossing it into the lake, and being totally awed by the size of the fish that could come out of that lake.

I paired the image up with DCWV All About Boys designer paper before trimming both of the lower corners for a different look.  After stippling Stampin Up! bashful blue around the edges and sky, I then lightly stippled almost amethyst to add a bit more color to the early morning sky.  After adding some aged copper brads and diamond ice stickles to highlight the water, my card was finally finished.  This one is going to my dad with a note "Thanks for the memories".  I had a blast with my dad during our time with the YMCA Indian Guides program.  I'm not sure if it's still operative, but if the program, still exists, you should really look into it if you have small children.  The values, time alone with a parent, and the friends I made back then have stayed with me for life, especially the values that were taught to us.

Another thing we would do at summer camp was hike, hike, and hike some more.  I loved exploring the woods with my dad and friends from The Happy Palm Tree clan.   I paired the Happy Trails Digital image with some DCWV All About Boys designer paper and some DCWV Going Green designer paper for a more rustic look.  Once everything was colored, and layered, I tied some natural hemp ribbon around the middle of the card twice before popping up my main image panel over them.  For the final touch, I stippled some bashful blue ink for the sky and then added some hand drawn birds with a black marker. 

Last up is my son's favorite sport - basketball.  Although I've never played the sport, my son is very passionate about it.  I think I'll have him give this to his dad for Father's Day.  I paired the A Great Team image with DCWV All About Boys designer paper and some dry embossed Stampin Up! baja breeze card stock.  After coloring everything with prismacolor markers, and stippling bashful blue ink for the sky again, I added some hand drawn birds to finish the card off.

Music Note Sketch - WSC 18

Hi all.  Two posts tonight after being nailed with a major, major migraine the last week.  In fact, the last couple of weeks have been horrible with my migraines.  I've been down more than up lately.

Here's my take on last week's My Favorite Things Wednesday Stamp Club.  I'm a bit behind thanks to the migraine.  However, I finally inked up my Who's That Musical Girl set and combined it with some scrap Stephanie Fizer Easter Daisies Collection with some scrap Stampin Up! retired mauve mist and pale plum card stock. 

After coloring my image, and punching it out with a Marvy Mega Scallop Circle punch, I used my heart and musical note die-namics before sponging pale plum around the edges.  I then popped up the hearts and added some mauve colored prima flowers with bling centers to finish it off.

Thinking Of You - My Time Made Easy Pretty Pattern Sketch 09

Anyone know what time it is??  No not Tim Allen's Tool Time, but another My Time Made Easy Pretty Pattern Sketch Challenge.  This week's challenge was perfect to showcase My Time Made Easy's Bee-Loved stamp set. 

After stamping my images in memento tuxedo black, I decided to stamped the same images onto some scrap card stock for popping up later. 

Pulling out my prismacolor markers, I got to work coloring.  Once that was done, and my additional images also cut out, it was time to assemble my card.  For one of the layers, I decided to dust off my Fiskars Sunflower scissors and cut a border for the top before tying a ribbon knot.  Once I had my card assembled, I added the cut out images using mini pop dots and then added some lace ice stickles to highlight the bee's wings and flower centers.  Here's close up of the dimension on my card.

UR 2 COOL - MTME Pretty Pattern Challenge 08

Hello everyone!!  Sorry it's been a while since I posted.  I've been dealing with a nasty migraine again.

This week's Pretty Pattern challenge is so versatile.  I chose to use one of MTME's SK8R Boy digital image set and some splotched blue designer paper from my stash.  Once I downloaded the digital set, I printed the boy twice on white card stock so one could be popped up later.  I also printed off the UR2 COOL saying to replace the sketches tag with a circle. 

Once all of that was done, I cut out one of the boys, stippled some Stampin Up! bashful blue around the edges of the main image panel, then popped up the second image using mini pop dots.  Now I wanted something above and then to the side of my main image, so I once again printed off my skater image this time enlarging the image a bit so I could just use the skateboard.  After that was colored with my prismacolor markers, and cut out, I adhered it to the card, added some blue grosgrain ribbon and then some black sticker dots from Joann's.  Voila!!!  It was done in about 15min.  Not bad at all, especially for making a boy card which I do not have a lot of.
