The poppies are back!!!!  Yippee!!!!!!!  Can we have a shout out for the graphic designers for bringing our favorite flowers back into the fold?

For my card, I chose to be inspired by California's wild poppies that grow just about everywhere in the late spring and early summer.  They are just beautiful but don't you dare pick them!!  Since the poppy is the California state flower is against the law to pick them, however, no one said anything about inspiration being illegal ;) even with migraines - yes, they're still hanging around.

I started out by stamping my images from the new Welcome Poppies set by Mark's Finest Papers, a Heinrich Company in memento tuxedo black ink onto snow storm smooth card stock and coloring with prismacolor markers before stippling Tim Holtz tumbled glass ink around them and layering.   Once my layering was done, I stamped the card and first card layer in Tim Holtz spiced marmalade and Adirondack lettuce inks.  The saying is directly stamped onto My Minds Eye Miss Caroline designer paper I was gifted by a friend in memento tuxedo black.  The only embellies I added are some punched Martha Stewart mini butterflies with bling bodies, orange satin ribbon with a green hat pin and some orange brads.

Thanks for stopping by today and don't forget to stop by the rest of the design teams blogs to leave some love for a chance to win today's featured set.  Have a great day!!

  7. Wonderful coloring. I knew that about not picking the CA Poppies because the same thing applies to the TX State Flower the BlueBonnet. I've grown BlueBonnets in my backyard for a couple yrs so I have ones to enjoy of my own but there is nothing like seeing a field of them and sure that applies to the CA Poppies as well.

Beautiful card and I promise if I visit California - not to pick the wild poppies! Your card is lovely and the colors very, very pretty! I don't know how you function with the awful and continuous pain - I am keeping you in my prayers.
