Tis The Season

Hello and welcome.  I'd like to share with you a card I made using a Gecko Galz digital stamp from their Gibson Girls digital stamp set that I paired with some wave designer paper I've had in my stash for years and never used.

I started out by printing the image onto Neenah white card stock before coloring using Castle Arts colored pencils.  Once I was finished coloring, I layered the image panel, added brads and distressed it using a paper distresser before setting aside.  After I added the designer paper to my card, I die cut a few waves from scrap card stock using an old My Favorite Things die.  Once I had adhered the waves to my card, I added the image panel popping it up over the waves using pop dots.  The final touch was adding some blue sequins to finish it off.  I'm pleased with how this turned out.

Enjoy The Summer

Hello and welcome.  I'm trusting everyone is trying to stay cool and safe during this nasty heat wave.  It's certainly not helping my migraines and breathing issues.  This last week has been rough with the weekend being down right unbearable at 114 and 113 degrees and it never really cooled off at night.  I was finally able to push myself to, somewhat, go through some boxes still unpacked from our move.  I do realize it's been several days since I posted last, my health just wouldn't let me.

I was digging through my stash of designer paper when I came across this blue, watercolor style paper and the first thing I thought of was swimming pool so I pulled out this Pool Piggies stamp set, with matching dies, from Gerda Steiner Designs I received as a RAK from a friend.  I started out by stamping all of my images using memento tuxedo black ink on neenah white scraps then colored using copic markers.  Once the coloring was finished, I die cut the images out using my Big Shot© before adhering them on my slimline card using glue dots.  I then added some blue/green fibers from my stash and adhered a few teal sequins from Picket Fence Studios.  Taking one of the sentiments from the set, I inked it in tuxedo black, stamped it directly on the card before going over it using a Sakura 3D glaze pen.  Taking a few more glaze pens, I highlight parts of the piggies, and added some polka dots to the yellow swimsuit) before declaring the card finished.

Summer Collaberation Wedding or Ice Cream Style

Hello and welcome to this years #summeraspired2023 hop. Organised by @kellys.craft and @kellysantidesigns . Where each week we have 2 choices for themes where we can create either or both themes or even combining both together. Week 4 themes are wedding/ice cream . Follow along using the hashtag or through the list of Participants. Graphic created by @kellysantidesigns.  For my cards, I went and did both themes especially since the retired Stampin Up set I was using had matching images for both of them.

First up is a clean and simple wedding card using the tiered cake image from the Sweet Treats set paired with the retired Stampin Up Hearts and Swirls (retired) background.  I then colored the images using a the few Copic markers I have before layering.  That's it!  Under 10 minutes and it was done.

For my second card, I used the ice cream sundae image also from the Sweet Treats (retired) set.  After coloring the image with prismacolor and copic markers, I layered it before adding some small floral sequins to the corners.  Once I had added it to my card, I stamped the celebrate the saying from Stampin Up's Wonderful Words (also retired).  The final touch was adding a bit of Ranger's Glossy Accents to the chocolate sauce and allowed it to dry.

Summer Collaberation Sea or Pool Party

Welcome to this years #summeraspired2023 hop. Organised by @kellys.craft and @kellysantidesigns.  Where each week we have 2 choices for themes where we can create either or both themes or even combining both together. Week 3's themes are Sea or Pool Party.  Since Mother Nature has really turned up the heat here in Central California, I went "swimming" with the pool party theme and pulled out some scrap pool water designer paper I've had for ages and paired it with Impression Obsession's Pool Party set.

Once I had my images stamped in memento tuxedo black, I colored everything using both Prismacolor and Copic markers.  I then stippled some Tim Holtz tumbled glass distress ink around the image panel before layering and adding brads.  I then added it to a blue card layered with the scrap pool water designer paper before stippling tumbled glass around the card.  I then went over the saying with a Sakura 3D black glaze pen before adding some Picket Fence Studios sequins before adding some waterfall ice stickles and blue/green fibers I've had in my stash for a while now.

Summer Collaberation Rainbow or Floral

Hello and welcome. It's week 2 of the #summeraspired2023 collaboration hop over on Instagram where we're given two prompts for the week and we choose which one to use or combine them.  For my card today, I pulled out a GinaK Designs stamp set called Vintage Rose Mini (now retired) I had won last year and just hadn't used yet.

I started out by stamping my image in Memento tuxedo black ink onto scrap Hammermill white card stock before stamping the saying right underneath.  I then pulled out my Castle Arts pencils to color the rose bouquet using rainbow colors since I needed a pet sympathy card. Once my coloring was finish, I then color spritzed a long retired Stampin Up Only Orange marker then layered.  My only embellishment used were some small black brads before adhering the layered panel onto a white card. On the inside I stamped a Scrapbook.com sympathy sentiment with a paw print from a retired Papertrey Ink pet sympathy set stamped underneath.

I'm really happy with how it turned out.  I've been dealing with some bad migraines again.

Summer Collaberation On The Beach

Hello and welcome.  Today I'd like to share with you a card I made for a summer themed collaboration
with a few stampers on Instagram, so I pulled out a stamp set/die combo I won a few months back from Picket Fence Studios. Since California has "finally" turned on the furnace and the weather is roasting everyone to be well done, I'm dreaming of the beach and cool ocean breezes.

I started out by die cutting the background beach, and water, using the Scene Building Seashore Cover Plate before coloring the die cut pieces using my blending brushes and Tim Holtz walnut stain, tumbled glass, chipped sapphire and tea dye distress inks.  Once my "coloring" for the sand/waves was finished, I stamped all the images/saying I wanted from the Summer Beach Friends Dear in memento tuxedo black ink onto scrap white card stock before coloring using both prismacolor and copic markers before die cutting.  After adding some pop dots to my die cut images, I arranged them on my card before finishing it off with some crystal ice stickles to the "water line" and a black 3D glaze pen to the crab eyes.  I'm really happy with how this turned out.

Let's Go To The Beach!

Hello and welcome to another Bugaboo freebie friday.  This week's freebie takes us to the beach, sand between our toes and a whole lot cooler weather than what most of the West has been experiencing.

After printing my image off onto Neenah white card stock, I colored it using prismacolor and copic markers before stamping my "sand", adding some puffy clouds and then the background water.  Once she was layered using scrap card stock, I added brads and then adhered the image panel to a dry embossed card using my big shot and a cuttlebug shell collage embossing folder.  The saying was stamped onto scrap white card stock before punching it, and the corresponding layer, out using my Stampin Up oval punches.  I then added a crab and sea anemone, also punched from scraps.  The only other embellishments were some gold cord ribbon, ice stickles to highlight the water and a gold sand dollar I bought at a stamp convention over a decade ago and never used.

Flamingo Hello's

Hello and welcome.  Today I'd like to share a card with you that basically sums up 2020 so far.  Sometimes I feel like it's completely upside down.

I started out by stamping the Upside Down Flamingo from Gerda Steiner Designs before coloring using both prismacolor and copic markers.  Once that was done, I stamped the saying from the Hedgehog With Sign and lightly stippled some Tim Holtz tumbled glass distress ink around it then edged it with memento black before layering.  I then added some pink brads and added the panel to the card stamped in regal rose ink using the Stampin Up Itty Bitty Backgrounds (retired).  After adding some pink ribbon and faux stitching, my card was finished.

Thanks A Melon Summer

Hello and welcome.  Today is the new Saturday challenge at Catch The Bug where I'm guest designing.  This week the theme is Goodby Summer.  Where I live here in California's Central Valley, summer means watermelon season!  There are acres and acres of fresh watermelons harvested on the west side of the Central Valley.  My project uses Bugaboo's August newsletter (which you can subscribe to on the Catch The Bug blog and is new to me) freebie called Summer Peek Watermelon.  If you're not a newsletter subscriber, you can find the image here.

After printing my image onto Hammermill white card stock and coloring using both prismacolor and copic markers, I lightly stippled some Tim Holtz tumbled glass distress ink before sponging some SU rose red around the edges.  After layering, I added it to a rose red card with some watermelon designer paper I've had for who knows how long, since I don't remember buying it.  After popping up the main image panel, I realized I needed some black brads on it.  Since I'm out of those, I made my own by using a small hole punch and Martha Stewart glue pen.  Once I stamped my saying from a LONG retired Stampin Up set called Tiny Talk, I punched the saying and border out, then added to my card using glue dots.  The only other embellishment was some red/pink fibers from my stash.

Pool Party!

Hello and welcome again.  Now I'd like to share with you a card I stamped with this cute little set called Penguin Summer (which is no longer available) from The Cats Pajamas

After stamping the images and saying onto white card stock, I colored them using both prismacolor and copic markers before layering the saying.  For the penguin images, I fussy cut them out so they could be added to a card with pool water designer paper that I've had for years in my stash.  Once the penguins were added, I added the layered saying.  Since I didn't have matching brads in the color I wanted, I made my own using scrap card stock and a MS glue pen.  The final touches were white organdy ribbon and Sakura 3D glaze pens to highlight parts of the saying and images.

Stella's At The Beach

Hello and welcome.  I'm still guest designing for Bugaboo Stamps and this week's challenge over at Catch The Bug is a photo challenge.  That's right.  We're going to the beach!  For my project, I decided to use Stella Outdoorsy.

After combining the image and saying in Microsoft Word, I printed it off and colored using both prismacolor and copic markers.  I then stippled some Tim Holtz tumbled glass and broken china distress inks over and around the edges before adding some Adirondack caramel ink before layering and adding to my card.  For the card, I just went with a textured caramel base with  some light blue bakers twine around it.  I then highlighted parts of the image using Sakura 3D glaze pens before adding some hand drawn birds and brads.  The final touches were a punched crab from red scrap card stock and a never before used (NBUS) shell charm I've had how for years.  The charm was adhered using Ranger Glossy Accents.  As an afterthought, I added another punched crab to the inside as well as a punch sand dollar also from scraps.
