Thinking Of You Mermaid

Hello and welcome.  Although I've been dealing with a nasty migraine, I needed a card for a friend who's been very sick lately and just had surgery, so I printed out this Flowing Mermaid I bought years ago from Simply Betty Stamps (now closed).  Once she was printed on to Hammermill white card stock, I colored her using both prismacolor and copic markers before layering and adding brads.  My card is stamped using a long retired Stampin Up Whimsy jumbo wheel in bermuda bay ink before sponging the same ink along the edges of the card.  Once I added my layered image, I lightly stippled bermuda bay around my image before adding some retired Picket Fence Studios spiked ocean water sequins.  The final touch was adding crystal ice stickles to her tail and hair.  I'm pleased with how she turned out.

Falling For Wednesdays Week 2

Hi friends! Welcome to week 2 of Falling For Wednesdays hosted by @kellysantidesigns 🍂🍁 Hop along with #ffwcardgroup2023 where each week holds beautiful fall splendor. This week’s fall theme is: FALL FAVORITES!

For my card, I was inspired by fond memories of going to the pumpkin patch with my mom when I was little, and taking my own kids to the one here.  I always had fun picking out my own pumpkin and carving it's face.  So, I pulled out my favorite The Cat's Pajamas set called Happy Pumpkin Day (I still have the retired clear set).  Gotta love these TCP penguins!!  I started out by stamping the main image in memento tuxedo black onto copic white card stock before coloring using both prismacolor and copic markers.  Once my coloring was finished, I layered the image and added brads.  As an afterthought, I stippled some Tim Holtz stormy sky distress ink as well as some Stampin Up tangerine tango ink left over from another project.  I then adhered the layered image using glue dots to a dry embossed card with more tangerine tango ink stippled over the embossed images.  After adding some copper bling to finish it off.

Mele Kalikimaka (Merry Christmas)

Hello and welcome.  My late grandfather used to live in Honolulu and seeing the news about the Maui wildfires got me thinking of him again and all of the laughs, and fun, we used to have together.  Grandpa was a true gentleman....with a wicked sense of humor.  LOL  So, I pulled out a couple of beach/palm stamps I received from a friend when she had to downsize and hadn't used yet.  Grandpa, this card is in your memory.  I think I'll send this to my brother for Christmas.

I started out by stamping the palm trees from Stamp Yourself Silly (now closed) and the beach Santa from PSX in memento tuxedo black ink onto a Hammermill white panel before coloring them using my Lyra and Castle Arts pencils.  Once the coloring was finished, I pulled out my retired Close To My Heart Tropical Christmas stamp set and stamped the Mele Kalikimaka in memento black between the palm trees before stenciling the background clouds using my slimline cloud stencil from Picket Fence Studios and Tim Holtz tumbled glass distress ink.  After layering the image panel, I added some copper brads, waterfall ice stickles, and hand drawn "birds" using a black gel pen.  Santa's sunglasses are also highlighted with the neon blue gel pen.

Falling For Wednesdays

Hello and welcome to week 1 of Falling For Wednesdays hosted by @kellysantdesigns 🍂🍁 This is a continuation of Summer Crush Wednesdays and we wanted to keep the cardmaking fun going for the next 7 weeks! Hop along with #ffwcardgroup2023 where each week holds beautiful fall splendor. This week’s fall theme is: Colors of Fall (see mood board)

For my card, I decided to pull out some silk leaves I've had for at least a decade and never used combined with a long retired Stampin Up jumbo wheel.  I started out by inking the wheel with dusty durango dye ink and rolling it over a matching card base until the entire base was covered.  I then took six of the leaves, arranged them onto my base before adhering using some glue dots.  Once that was finished, I stamped my saying using an old Hero Arts stamp I received from a friend when she had to downsize her stamp collection to move across country, stamped it in memento tuxedo black on a corn husk scrap, then layered and added copper brads.  I then adhered the layered saying using pop up glue dots before adhering some retired copper bling from Not 2 Shabby stamps.  I'm really please with how this turned out since I have another migraine.  Here's another look of the card with the stamps:

Psalm 121

Hello and welcome.  Today I'd like to share a card made using stamps from Stampamania (closed now) I bought at a stamp convention 20+ years ago and haven't used (NBUS).  To see my first one, please scroll down one post.

I started out by stamping both the Horizon Crosses and Psalm 121:1,2 in memento tuxedo black ink before coloring by blending several different colors of Tim Holtz distress inks (list below) using my blending brushes from Picket Fence Studios.  Once I was satisfied with the ink blending, I layered the panel then added some brads.  I'm please with how this turned out since it's another one of my migraine creations (and I did this with very little light).  It was either be creative a bit or cry.  I'm glad I got creative.

PIP 2332

Hello and welcome.  Today starts a new challenge over at Pammie's Inky Pinkies and this week we're being sponsored by Jan's Digital Stamps.  I would first like to thank them for their sponsorship and for providing images for the design team to use.  For my card today, I combined then printed the image and one of the sayings from Across The Miles.

After printing my image on Neenah white card stock, I colored it using both Prismacolor and Copic markers before stippling Tim Holtz faded jeans and tumbled glass distress inks around the colored image before layering and adding brads.  For my card base, I took a ballet blue card and stippled Heffy Doodle's basket weave stencil using my blending brushes from Picket Fence Studios using more of the faded jeans distress ink.  After adding the layered image panel, I dug out some cherry chocolate dew drops and added those using glue dots.  The final touch was adding a bit of orange slice ice stickles in the center of the flowers.  I'm really happy with how this card turned out since I'm still dealing with this migraine and Mother Nature is not playing nice right now. Nothing is helping the migraines at the moment.

Summer Collaberation Favorite Activity or BBQ

Welcome to this years #summeraspired2023 hop. Organised by @kellys.craft and @kellysantidesigns . Where each week we have 2 choices for themes where we can create either or both themes or even combining both together. Week 6 themes are BBQ or favourite activity. Follow along using the hashtag or through the list of Participants. Graphic created by @kellys.craft

My favorite summer activity is just sitting on the beach listening to the waves crashing on the beach or visiting the Monterey Bay Aquarium so both themes are showcased in my card.

I started out by printing the Seahorse and Castle digital stamp from Impression Obsession onto Neenah white card stock before coloring using both Lyra and Castle Arts pencils.  Once my coloring was finished, I blended some taken with teal and creamy caramel inks around the image before layering and adding brads.  I then distressed the edges of the layered image using my distressing tool.  I then added some All About The Teals sequins from Picket Fence Studios before adding some ice stickles to highlight parts of the sand and seahorse.  I"m really happy with how this turned out considering I made it with a migraine and the main reason I printed the image at 3.5x5.

Summer Collaberation Ocean Life or Shaker

Welcome to this years #summeraspired2023 hop. Organised by @kellys.craft and @kellysantidesigns . Where each week we have 2 choices for themes where we can create either or both themes or even combining both together. Week 5 themes are shaker or ocean life . Follow along using the hashtag or through the list of Participants. Graphic created by @kellys.craft.

My card for today's hop combines both themes again.  Since Mother Nature's still not done baking California, I so want to be at the ocean, beach, or even the Monterey Bay Aquarium.  I started out by stamping my background images using Picket Fence Studios Little Coral Girl (retired) and I Am A Mermaid (retired) in memento tuxedo black ink before coloring using both prismacolor and copic markers.  I then stamp my mermaid and seahorses onto scrap white card stock, colored and set aside to die cut later.  Once I was happy with the coloring, I blended some Tim Holtz tumbled glass, broken china and chipped sapphire distress inks using my blending brushes from Picket Fence Studios.  Taking a clear cellophane envelope, I added my background and then some All About The Teals and Spiked Ocean Water (retired) sequins before sealing the envelope and adhering it to a navy card.  I then die cut my additional images and added them using glue dots and pop up glue dots.  After stamping my saying, I fussy cut around it to make it look like it was die cut before highlighting the wording using a black 3D glaze pen.
