Ebony And Ivory

Hello everyone and welcome.  Today I'd like to share a card I made as Guest Designer for the Outlawz Sunday Songs and Rhymes challenge.  This week the challenge theme is the song Ebony and Ivory.

Song:  Ebony and Ivory
Ebony and ivory live together in perfect harmony

Side by side on my piano keyboard, oh Lord, why don't we?

For my card, I wanted to create something that showed how we, as a society, treat each other (stealing, bullying, etc) and decided to go with an old Western theme.  I pulled out two retired sets from The Cats Pajamas (Happy Trails, Howdy) along with the Cloud Border CutUps die.  After stamping my scene in memento black onto some ivory card stock and scraps, I colored everything using both prismacolor and copic markers.  I then cut out everything I wanted to pop up before stippling some Tim Holtz brushed corduroy, tumbled glass and Adirondack caramel inks onto the card and image panel before layering onto black and ivory card stock.  I then die cut my cloud border twice, cut apart, then stippled the same inks onto each one before popping them up as well.  The only embellishments I added were vintage brads and some hand drawn "birds" in the background.  Here's the completed card:

Thanks for stopping by today.  Have a great day.  I do hope you'll join us for this week's challenge over at the Outlawz.

Commitment and Insanity

Hello and welcome.  Sorry it's been a bit since my last post.  I've been dealing with some health issues again.  Today I'd like to share a card I made for the Bugaboo Stamps Make Us Smile challenge.  Since I needed a smile myself, I decided to make an early anniversary card for my husband.  Since I know he doesn't follow my blog, it's safe posting here.

For my card I decided to use the Stella and Gus Commitment and Insanity image.  After downloading the image file, I split the saying up and put the commitment part in the top left corner and the insanity part in the bottom right using photoshop.  Once I had the image printed and colored using both prismacolor and copic markers, I suddenly decided to cut the insanity part away from my combined image.  I then stippled basic grey dye ink around the image and separated insanity before layering.  Once I had my card made, I also stippled basic grey around the card before adding my layered saying and image.  The only embellishments I used were some baby brads, and prima flowers with ice stickles for the center.

Thanks for stopping by today.  Have a great day.

R U Ready? Plus More NBUS

Second post from me today.  If you're looking for my Summer's Last Hurrah post, please scroll down one.

Hello and again welcome.  Tonight I'd like to share a card I made using another retired image from Simply B Stamps.   Since this Thursday is the official start of  football here in the United States, I decided to use Jude's Longest Yard and is a digital stamp I haven't had the chance to use yet.  Once I printed the image out onto white card stock and colored using both prismacolor and copic markers, I stippled some Tim Holtz tumbled glass, brushed corduroy distress inks along with some garden green dye ink from Stampin Up!  Since I didn't have any silver card stock in my stash (Raiders fan here), I then layered it onto some black and basic grey card stock before adding silver brads.  My saying was made using a retired MFT Stamps alphabet set on to some scrap black/grey card stock.

Summer's Last Hurrah

Hello and welcome.  I'm still trying to focus on something other than my elevated pain levels, so today I'd like to share with you a card I made for a few challenges using the retired Summer Pin Up digi from Simply B Stamps.

After printing my image onto white card stock and coloring using both prismacolor and copic markers, I stippled some Tim Holtz tumbled glass distress ink and Adirondack caramel ink around the image before layering onto scrap card stock.  I then stamped the saying in memento black and added some silver brads.  For my card, I added some scrap wave designer paper before adding two die cut wave borders sponged with buckaroo blue ink.  I then adhered my layered image over the sponged waves.  The final embellishments were a Jolee's beach umbrella die cut sticker from my never before used stuff stash (NBUS) and a few waterfall dew drops.

Challenges entered:

Pammies Inky Pinkies 1835 - Anything Goes
