Vintage Happiness

Hello and welcome.  I'm guest designing today over on the Arty Divas Blog and I'd like to share with the card I made for my husband for Father's Day using one of Unity's limited edition digital stamps (get them before they're gone). I've had this stamp for a couple of months now and just have never used it yet (NBUS).

After printing off my image from the Good Ol Days set onto Neenah white card stock, I then colored it using both prismacolor and copic markers before sponging Tim Holtz old paper distress ink over it.  I then sponged some tea stain ink around the edges, layered, then distressed one of the layers before adding some vintage brads including a long forgotten Tim Holtz gear socket charm.  I then sponged some forest moss distress ink onto my card before adding the layered image using dimensionals. My final touches was adding some twine to the top edge and highlighting parts of the image using Sakura 3D glaze pens.  As an afterthought, I took a stipple brush that still had some Tim Holtz tumbled glass distress ink on it and then stippled over the old paper to add a little more detail.

Additional photos to closer show some of the detail .

I'd also like to enter this into the following challenges:

I have to tell you how much I REALLY LOVE THIS SET!!  I've got two cards to share with you today, both are for my step-dad who recently retired as a fire captain from the State of California's Cal Fire division (formerly California Dept of Forestry) after 45 years.  Yes, you read right, 45 years of service with one employer.  My step-dad was able to start working for the state many years ago as a summer volunteer firefighter while still going to high school before there was an age limit.  I believe he started at age 14 since he retired at age 59.

My first card is for Father's Day and uses some old retired CTMH denim designer paper.  After stamping my images in memento tuxedo black ink onto MFP white card stock and coloring with prismacolor markers, I cut them out and adhered to a Tim Holtz baroque die cut stamped with the basket weave stamp from Background Fun to resemble the metal floorboards of a firetruck.  For embellishments, I added a twill tape (hose) border adhered with some screw brads before popping up my die cut main images.  I then stamped DAD from Classic Dad onto scrap white card stock in chipped sapphire ink before punching it out to adhere to the lower right corner with the remaining cut out images on the left side.

For the inside of my card, I stamped HAPPY FATHER'S DAY from Classic Dad before over stamping the fire helmet in memento London fog ink then adding the ladder truck and fire hydrant to the bottom right corner.

My second card uses the same card stock and designer paper I still had sitting on my stamp table and is for my step-dad's birthday which is one week following Father's Day.  Again all images were stamped in memento black onto white card stock, colored with prismacolor markers then cut out for adhering.  Once all of my coloring was finished, I cut all of my images out, stamped a border using Background Fun before adhering one of the cut out images onto a die cut Sizzix panel and then the second image adhered in the lower right hand corner along with the saying on the other side.

Thanks for stopping by today.  Have a great day and don't forget to stop by the rest of the design team blogs to leave some love for a chance to win today's featured set.

Take Time To Live

Hello and welcome to Wednesday!!!  I am late uploading my card for this week's Friends of SpeedyTV Father's Day challenge by Mark's Finest Papers, a Heinrich Company.  My migraines have just been out of control lately.  It took me 4 days to stamp this clean and simple card and another 3 to be able to upload it.  Not good if you ask me.  However, I digress.

I started out by stamping my images from Father Time in memento tuxedo black onto MFP corn husk card stock and then using the direct to paper technique added some Tim Holtz forest moss to the sides of my layered images.  Once that was done, everything was then layered onto some vintage watch designer paper I bought at Costco years ago and then onto a black linen card.

The inside saying is also stamped in memento tuxedo black with the same clock image over stamped lightly in Stampin Up! going grey.

I also decided to enter this into SCS's Queen For The Day challenge.  Thanks for stopping by today.  Have a great day and why not join this week us at Friends of SpeedyTV.

My project today shows a couple of different Mark's Finest Papers, a Heinrich Company sets to go along with our featured set Get Reel.  I remember growing up going fishing with my dad every summer while in the Indian Guides program.  This set brings back so many memories of camping, fishing, hiking, and so on with my dad, so I tried to capture some of those memories in my card for you today.

I started out by stamping my main image from Get Reel in memento tuxedo black onto MFP snow storm smooth card stock before taking the Ice and Snow stamp set and inking only part of the tree tops from the sets main image to use as cattails.  Then I took some color crayons and colored some of the "cattails" brown and the water ripples white before sponging & stippling various Tim Holtz distress and Adirondack inks to get my pond with an early morning sky look.  Once I was satisfied with the ink coverage, I stamped the saying from Get Reel and then the bird trio from the new Scenic Selections a couple of times before layering on card stock and adding some Making Memories black baby brads.  My final touches were to stamp the rocks and trees from Scenic Selections onto scrap snow storm smooth card stock, color with prismacolor markers, cut out and then pop up using mini pop dots.  For just a little sparkle, I highlighted some of the grasses with a green Copic Spica pen.

Thanks for stopping by today.  Have a great day and don't forget to stop by the rest of the design team's blogs to leave some love for a chance to win today's featured set.

Blue Ribbon Dad

Welcome.  I hope you are having a great day.  Today, I am sharing a card with you from My Time Made Easy May 15th digital release called #1 Dad.

After downloading the image and printing it off, I matched up some DCWV Nana's Kids designer paper to the dots on the little girl's dress before coloring my image with prismacolor markers.  Since I was using soft colors for my card and image, I made sure to find my Stampin Up! soft subtles brads in my stash to add to the layered image.  Keeping the softer color scheme, I also found a pink flower sticker and clip in my stash to add to the card and help finish it off.

Thanks for stopping by today.  Have a great day.

A Special HERO! My Time Made Easy Pretty Pattern Sketch Challenge 10

Hello everyone.  Welcome to another addition of My Time Made Easy's Pretty Pattern Sketch Challenge.  This week our sketch artist, Tangii, came up with an interesting one.  One I really had to think about for a bit.  However, once I was done thinking, it was pretty easy to put together especially when I decided to use this month's new digital release.

Since Father's Day is coming up, I decided to break apart the For Dad digital set and use one of my favorite sayings as the centerpiece: "Any man can be a Father.  It takes someone special to be a Dad".  Isn't that so true?  Once that was downloaded and printed off, I decided to use the HERO saying that comes with the set as my card's "sideburns".  LOL

Once I had everything downloaded, printed off, colored and cut out, I pulled out some black card stock to layer the saying on, rounding the corners, and adding some Making Memories black baby brads.  Once that was done, I layered it over some graph paper from MTME Sensational Staples digital paper.  The HERO sayings were then popped up on pop dots at an angle, slightly covering the main layered image.

Once that was done, I decided to add the Sensational Staples digital graph paper to the inside as well, using the "DAD" saying from the For Dad digital set.  For the final touch, I added a small colored image from MTME Super Dad digital set.

Thanks for stopping by today.  If you haven't joined us yet at My Time Made Easy Pretty Pattern Sketch Challenge, you really should.  If you participate in all of the challenges each month, you could win a Pretty Package of your choice.  So what are you waiting for?

Have a great day!
