Mermaids, Coffee, Graduation And Heat

Its Too Hot GIFs - Find & Share on GIPHY

Hello and welcome.  First let me just say this .... It's too freaking hot!!  My part of California is forecasted to be 105 today with humidity. Ugh!  I am struggling with my migraines, plus other health issues, and this heat is not helping at all.  Now that I've gotten that out, on to today's cards.  Fortunately, I didn't have to do too much coloring since, pain wise, I was at "it might feel better crying" again.

First up is a card I made for my friend's sons graduation from high school today.  I wanted something book related, and I had this cool freebie image, from Conjurer of Dreams Facebook group already printed.  Once I had cut it down to size, and layered, I added some "faux brads" then set it aside for a moment.  I then dug through my stash of designer paper and found this cool printed page, so I grabbed that and added it to the card before stippling Tim Holtz walnut stain distress ink around the edges and a little over the designer paper too.  Once I had added my layered image, I decided to "age" the image a bit and stippled old paper distress ink on it.  The only embellishments are some kraft thread and a "pair" of wooden glasses that I stained before adding glossy accents to make it look like real lenses.

Next up, I had a fun card made with The Cat's Pajamas Big Cups digital set and Picket Fence Studios Down To The Last Cup background I received as a RAK from a friend.  Once I had combined the Sprinkle image, and saying, I printed it on Neenah white card stock before coloring using my copic markers before layering and adding brads.  I then stamped the background in espresso ink, stippled espresso ink around the edges before lightly stippling some old paper distress ink over the panel and the layered image panel.  The final touch was adding some Picket Fence coffee bean sequins (retired) using Bearly Art glue.

Finally, I have a mermaid inspired card using Crafter's Companion Swim Free (retired) stamp set.  I started out by blending Tim Holtz tumbled glassbroken chinastormy skyfaded jeans and chipped sapphire distress inks using my blending brushes.  I then stamped all of the images in memento tuxedo black ink using my MISTI before layering and adding faux brads.  The only embellishment added was some blue sequins from my stash.

A Steamy Smoky Fairy Night

Hello and welcome.  Second post today.  If you're looking for my Pammie's Inky Pinkies card, please scroll down one.

The card I'd like to share with you, I made last week while my migraines were really bad again.  It's either try to focus on something else and push through or crying which hurts more.   Fortunately the image was a pre-colored one from Gecko Galz for their monthly steampunk challenge so all I had to worry about was finishing the card.

After printing the image onto Neenah white card stock, I layered it using scraps making sure to distress the edges of each layer using a paper distresser before adding brads and setting aside.  The card base is dry embossed using a Sizzix© retro circle embossing folder run through my Big Shot© before slightly distressing the three edges of the card base.  I then added the layered image panel using pop up glue dots.  I then die cut three Tim Holtz mechanical gears on white card stock scraps before "coloring" them using Tim Holtz weathered wood, walnut stain, stormy sky distress inks and Stampin Up going grey (retired) dye ink using my paper pouncers before adhering them using glue dots.  Taking my MS punches (hydrangea and fern), I punched several flowers and ferns to create a floral spray in/around the die cut gears using Bearly Art glue.  The final touches were adding some kraft thread along the folded edge, ice stickles to the "lights" and smoky/black bling to the floral centers.  I'm not totally happy with how this turned out but I'm not starting over again.  Clearly I need more practice with Steampunk images.

Cat-PURR-ccino

Hello and welcome.  I've got another quick and easy card for this year's Coffee Loving Cardmakers Fall/Winter 2023 Hop using this cute Newton's Mug stamp set from Newton's Nook.

I stamped it onto scrap Copic X-press white card stock before coloring using prismacolor and copic markers.  Once the coloring was finished, I stippled some Adirondack espresso and Tim Holtz spiced marmalade distress ink using my blending brushes before layering and adding brads.  I then went and distressed the edges before adhering the image panel to an espresso colored card.  After adding some coffee bean sequins, I pulled out three of the coffee beans and adhered them using glue dots.  I'm so glad this went together easily since, yes, the migraine is still there.  I'm seriously at the point of crying from it but that'll hurt more than trying to focus on something else.

It's A Monster Mash!!

Hello and welcome.  Second post from me today.  If you're looking for my Inky Paws Challenge card, please scroll down one post.    I've been having one of those "days" all week so far, so I decided to chip away at needed Halloween cards, so I'd like to share with you one I finished last night using Impression Obsession's clear set Monster Mash.

I started out by stamping my images/saying in memento tuxedo black ink onto a Hammermill white scrap slimline panel before coloring using both prismacolor and copic markers.  Once my coloring was finished, I layered it and then added some brads before distressing the edges of the purple panel using a Tim Holtz distresser tool before popping it up over an orange card.  I then decided to stipple some chipped sapphire distress ink using blending brushes from Picket Fence Studios.  It was then I discovered I had only partially stamped the spider web, so I did it again onto scrap white card stock before fussy cutting it out and popping up using dimensionals.  I then took a retired Stampin Up bat punch, punched some scrap black card stock, then distressed it using an embossing stylus before adding it to my card.  The final touches were googlie eyes and highlighting parts of the saying, and monsters, using Sakura 3D glaze pens.  I'm pretty pleased with it considering I'm still feeling pretty crappy.

Hello Kitty

Hello and welcome.  Today is my final guest designer spot for the Outlawz Monday Greetings challenge and this week we are being sponsored by Beccy's Place.  I would like to thank them for their sponsorship for this challenge.

I started out by printing off the Fat Cat image onto Neenah white card stock before coloring using Castle Art pencils.  Once my coloring was done, I blended some Tim Holtz tattered rose and Stampin Up going grey inks around the image before layering and adding brads.  I wasn't quite happy with how the layered image looked so I took a fingernail and distressed the edges of the bottom layer before stamping my saying from the now closed MFP Stamp Shop in memento black.  I then added it to a plain chocolate chip card using dimensionals before adding some glossy accents to the eyes, primas and some bling I've had for years as the final touches.  As an afterthought, I added some diamond ice stickles to the heart on the cat's collar.

It's A Cupcake Kind Of Day

Hello and welcome.  Today is another new release from Bugaboo Stamps called Cupcake Tray and can be found here.

After printing the image onto Neenah white card stock, and colored using Castle Art pencils with a blender pencil, I lightly stippled some Tim Holtz tumbled glass and tattered rose distress inks over and around it before layering.  Once I was finished layering, I added some vintage brads and distressed the edges of the bottom layer using a fingernail before adding to a rose card with Die Cuts With A View Sweet Shoppe designer paper and chocolate chip ink sponged around the edges.  I then added a satin chocolate ribbon, and hat pin I've had for years, before highlighting the words, and parts of the colored image, using Sakura 3D glaze pens.  Once the glaze was dry, I added some vintage pearl bling and dew drops.  I'm really happy with how this turned out since I have been battling a migraine for several weeks.  Fortunately, the pain level was not as bad when I made the card.

Vintage Happiness

Hello and welcome.  I'm guest designing today over on the Arty Divas Blog and I'd like to share with the card I made for my husband for Father's Day using one of Unity's limited edition digital stamps (get them before they're gone). I've had this stamp for a couple of months now and just have never used it yet (NBUS).

After printing off my image from the Good Ol Days set onto Neenah white card stock, I then colored it using both prismacolor and copic markers before sponging Tim Holtz old paper distress ink over it.  I then sponged some tea stain ink around the edges, layered, then distressed one of the layers before adding some vintage brads including a long forgotten Tim Holtz gear socket charm.  I then sponged some forest moss distress ink onto my card before adding the layered image using dimensionals. My final touches was adding some twine to the top edge and highlighting parts of the image using Sakura 3D glaze pens.  As an afterthought, I took a stipple brush that still had some Tim Holtz tumbled glass distress ink on it and then stippled over the old paper to add a little more detail.

Additional photos to closer show some of the detail .

I'd also like to enter this into the following challenges:

Moonlight Kitty

Hello and welcome.  I'd like to share a card I've made using another one of Impression Obsession's digital stamps.  This one is called Cat With Gourd 1852-DG and is currently free on their website.  If you don't like working with digital stamps, then you could purchase the rubber stamp here. I really think it's hilarious the way the cat has a bird cornered inside the gourd just waiting for the little bird to come out so it can pounce on it.

For my card, I wanted to try using fall colors in a non-traditional fall, or Halloween, card.  After printing off the image onto Neenah white card stock, I colored it using both prismacolor and copic markers before stippling various Tim Holtz distress inks to create the night sky.  I then took a white prismacolor pencil to color in the moon then layered it while distressing the bottom two layers then adding some black brads from my stash.  I then tied some black twine I had forgotten about in my stash then added some black prima flowers for an accent.  My final embellishments were highlighting the house window using a 3D glaze pen and a white gel pen for the terrified birds eyes.

Eagle And The Lighthouse

Hello and welcome.  It sure does feel good to be stamping and coloring again.  Today I'd like to share a card made using one of the new digital stamps from Impression Obsession called Eagle Lighthouse H1991.

After printing off my image onto Neenah white card stock, I pulled out and dusted off my prismacolor pencils.  Probably haven't used those in a few years too.  Bad mommy!! ;)  After coloring the image, and layering, I ran a distressing tool along the sides of the layered image before adding over a dry embossed border panel.  Once my card was made, I color spritzed an artichoke marker onto the kraft card base.  The only embellishments used were brads, ice stickles, and a Sakura 3D glaze pen to highlight the eagles eye, beak and claws.

Fake Plants

If you are looking for my Testicles and Tires post, please scroll down one posting. Thank you.

Second post for me today.  Now since I couldn't sleep the night before due to pain again, I decided to try and get my mind focused on something else besides all the pain and try to make a card for the Stella Says Sketch #508 challenge.  So I pulled Grumpy Gertrude and her fake plants image from Bugaboo Digital Stamps and got to work.

After coloring the image using prismacolor and copic markers, I stippled some tumbled glass & brushed corduroy distress inks around the image then layered. Now I had to take a bit of creative license here since the sketch had layered circles and my image was printed a tad too large for my circle punches to fit on the card.  So I decided to make a "squaricle" (a square circle) using my corner rounder punch instead.  For the background I stamped the oak leaf from SU Lovely As A Tree.  I added a distressed die cut daisy in one corner and the saying in another corner.  I'm happy with how this card turn out considering the amount of pain I was in.

Thanks for stopping by today.  Have a great weekend!

Testicles or Tires

Have I said how much I just love Bugaboo Digital Stamps??  If so, then I'm saying it again - I LOVE them!!  My card today is a CASE(Copy And Share Everything) of a card I made a while back during the 30 day marker challenge.  Right now it's totally perfect since my car engine has decided to take a vacation - without asking permission I might add.  Grrrrr.....  It's also my submission for the Twisted Thursday Anything Goes challenge this week over at the Outlawz.

So, after printing off my Stella Tidbits digi, I colored it using both prismacolor and copic markers before stippling tumbled glass distress ink around it, then layering and distressing the layered panels.  Since this is a "guy" inspired card, I added some Phillips and Flat Head screws.  Being me, I just had to add some mini primas with platinum ice stickle centers to finish everything off.

Thanks for stopping by today.  Have a great day and I hope my card gave you a bit of a giggle.

The Wonderful IRS

Hello and welcome.  Don't you just love paying taxes?  Right!  Neither do I.  Today I have a cute and snarky card featuring a darling digital image from Bugaboo Digital Stamps again.  Have I said how much I love their Stella images?  Well here's another one for you to enjoy!

After downloading the image and combining the saying to the image in MS Word, I colored it using both prismacolor and copic markers.  Once the image was colored, I sponged  some Tim Holtz tumbled glass and aged mahogany distress inks over and around it before layering and adding some white brads.  I then added a die cute blue border using a MFT  scalloped die.  I finally sponged some rose red die ink around the edges of the card to distress it a little as a final detail..

I'm entering this card in the Pammies Inky Pinkies Challenge 1716 for this week's challenge.

Thanks for stopping by today.  Have a great day.
