Thinking of You Ivy

Hello and welcome.  I hope you are having a great weekend thus far.  Today I am sharing a card I made for this week's Play Date Cafe Color Splash challenge.  After seeing the colors, I knew immediately the set I wanted to use, so I pulled out my Mark's Finest Papers, a Heinrich Company set Ivy and Blossoms and got to work.

After stamping my main image in memento cottage ivy ink onto MFP white card stock then layering onto black linen card stock (my favorite BTW), I added my saying in memento black just below the ivy before adding the layered image to the card itself.  Since there was some additional white space, I also added a friendship saying from the same Ivy and Blossoms stamp set with no embellishments.  A nice clean and simple card that says a lot and took only 10 minutes to make.

Teacup Roses

Second post for me today.  If you're looking for my Sassy Studio Designs card, please scroll down one post.  Thanks.

This week's Play Date Cafe challenge has some really soft subtle colors to the inspiration piece.  Prior to the actual colors being posted on Friday, I had already started my card using some substitute Stampin Up! colors and a template I had downloaded years ago from House Of Stir Fry.  Once I had printed out my template, and taped it to my folded card, I cut out the shaped teacup, and then stamped my background images from Love Remains by Mark's Finest Papers, a Heinrich Company directly onto the card in Tim Holtz tattered rose distress ink.

Then after stamping my image from Relax a Bit, I pulled out my prismacolor markers and colored the teacup to match the inspiration picture.  Finally, taking some die cuts, punches and pearl stickers, I added the final elements to my card using glue dots, pop up glues, or Ranger Glossy Accents as needed.

Get Well Pansies

Hello again.  Second post for me today.  This week's Play Date Cafe #152 challenge is a color splash is perfect teamed up with the Splitcoast Ways To Use It challenge.

I started out by stamping my pansy trio from the Spring Flowers stamp set by Mark's Finest Papers, a Heinrich Company in memento black onto MFP snow storm smooth card stock.  Once the stamping was finished, I colored only the pansies with a purple prismacolor marker before layering and adding some black Making Memories baby brads.  The only other embellishment used is a cuttlebug birds and leaves embossing folder onto a piece of white card stock before adding my layered piece.  Clean, simple, and so powerful.

Am I Fat? - PDCC130 & 4CC88

Hello and welcome to the weekend!!  Curious about the title to my post?  I just had to write it up that way especially with the sentiment I used on my card from a new set being released by Mark's Finest Papers, a Heinrich Company on May 15th.  When I saw the challenge for the Play Date Cafe, I just knew I had to sneak peek this set a little early even though I still have another migraine.  This week's PDCC130 challenge colors just screamed flamingos and vacation to me!!  Here's the colors:

For my card, I pulled out some Martha Stewart pre-made guava cards I had been gifted by a friend as well as some A Muse designer paper, then got to stamping.  I started out by stamping my Flamingos On Vacation in memento tuxedo black in twice onto Mark's Finest Papers, a Heinrich Company snow storm smooth card stock before coloring with prismacolor markers.  Once my coloring was finished, I cut out the second palm tree to pop up later and stippled Adirondack aqua ink and sunshine yellow ink around the top before stippling caramel ink on the bottom for sand and then stamping some birds from the soon to be released Scenic Selections as seagulls for the background.

Once all of my layering was finished, I pulled out some of my favorite embellishments to use, brads!  Gotta have some sort of brads on a card .... faux or real...they have to be there before popping up the layered image over a sponged die cut ric rack border.  Once my saying was stamped, stippled and more brads added, I popped up the layered flamingos over the sponged border before adding the popped up palm branches.  Here's a close up of the layered images.

For the final touches, I added some Michael's $1 bin ribbon and clips from my stash along with some clear dew drops.

Challenges my card is submitted in:

Wild Horses At The Play Date Cafe

I recently found a new (to me) challenge blog called The Play Date Cafe and decided to play along when I saw this week's color splash challenge.  This week we were to use only black, white and a splash of brown just like the picture below.

When I first saw the photo, I immediately thought of horses instead of rabbits for some reason.  So I pulled out my Wild Horses stamp set by Mark's Finest Papers, a Heinrich Company and got to work.

After stamping my main image in memento tuxedo black onto white storm heavy card stock, I pulled out my prismacolor markers and colored the image before layering and adding some Making Memories black baby brads.  Then I stamped my saying and running horse border before adhering the layered image to the card.  I'm really happy with the way it turned out considering I had made it with no sleep and a major migraine from the storms going through.

Thanks for stopping by today.  Have a great day and join in on this week's Play Date Cafe challenge.  You still have a few days left.
