A Night of Oriental Stamping

Hello and welcome.  Today I am sharing a couple of cards I made last night with an oriental flare despite my ongoing migraine.

My first card uses Asian Delights by Mark's Finest Papers, a Heinrich Company and stamped the cherry blossoms in Tim Holtz spiced marmalade distress ink onto MFP orangerie sunset card stock before layering onto a black card.  Then I took a smaller panel of the orangerie sunset, stamped the cherry blossoms in spiced marmalade ink again before over stamping the Peace, Love, Hope sayings down the left side in memento black then adding the small oriental temple in the lower right hand corner.  The only embellishments added were some black baby brads, and a black prima flower with orange bling center.

My second card was made following the sketch challenge layout from Oriental Stamp Art's challenge blog along with some retired digital designer paper.  The main focal image is stamped in memento black using the Glad Glads stamp set colored with prismacolor markers before stamping the Beauty saying from Asian Delights in the lower right corner of the image panel.  I then over stamped Love Script in Tim Holtz antique linen to "age" the main image panel a bit before sponging Stampin Up! apricot and artichoke inks around the edges.  The final touches were adding a brass teapot charm and oriental button brad along with ice stickles to highlight the flowers and butterfly.

Thanks for stopping by today.  Have a great day.

Clean And Simple - TCP Style!

Hi there!  First let me say THANK YOU to all of our men and women in the military for their service and to their families for letting them serve.

Today I have a few cards I am sharing that I made for this month's TCP Tuesday CAS challenge.  I've found that as my migraines bug me more, when I'm able to stamp, my cards tend to become more clean and simple so this challenge was perfect for me.  In fact, I was able to get three cards made for the challenge, two with matching envelopes using scrap card stock.

My first card uses the TCP set A Cuppa stamped in memento tuxedo black onto a white card then colored with prismacolor markers.  I kept this card very simple with no embellishments, or inside sentiment, of any kind so it could be used for a get well or thinking of you card depending on need.

My second and third cards use the TCP set called You Sick Thing (isn't that a great name for a set) stamped in memento black ink onto scrap white card stock folded into smaller cards to fit into those small #10 envelopes we all have around the house somewhere for bills.  Who wants bills showing up in their mailbox?  Happy mail is much, much better instead!  Once the cards were colored, I stamped and colored the envelopes to match before lightly sponging some going grey ink around the outside edges of Sprinkles© card.

Thanks for stopping by today.  Have a great weekend!

When I first saw the new Now Showing set, I knew exactly what I wanted to do with it - scrap my son's Shakespeare play A Winter's Tale using the Graphic 45 film canister accordion album I had picked up on clearance a couple of years ago.  After downloading, and printing off, some vintage movie digital paper, I started working on printing the pictures from the play I had downloaded that he was in.  Unfortunately, my printer for some reason didn't want to cooperate with me on printing the pictures, so I apologize ahead of time for them being slightly blurry.

I wanted to make sure each page had it's own header, popcorn and film strip borders so I pulled out my Tim Holtz film strip die through the big shot and die cut several sets of strips to use.  Once that was done, I stamped all of my images in memento tuxedo black onto white card stock then colored with prismacolor markers making sure to completely color in the "take sign" in black so I could write the name of the play on it using a white signo gel pen.  Once all of the coloring was finished and the images cut out, I started adhering them to the accordion album while stamping "feature presentation" inside the film strip borders, then my layered pictures.  The only other embellishments added to the album was brads on the front cover with the plays name & "now showing" and my ticket.

Below are the completed pages for viewing.  I placed close-up's in my gallery on SpeedyTV.

My project today features Space Fun paired up with some scrap designer paper from my stash and a cuttlebug retro circle embossing folder.  After I stamped all of my images in memento tuxedo black ink onto white card stock and colored with prismacolor markers, I cut everything out to adhere separately to a dry embossed blue panel using glue dots.  In order for the dry embossing to show more effectively, I lightly stippled bliss blue ink over the raised edges, as well as the sides, before stamping and punching out my saying.  The inside of the card says "Sorry I forgot"... perfect for a belated birthday, anniversary, graduation, etc.

My second card also has the images stamped in memento black then colored with prismacolor markers and the images cut out before adhering to a black card.  I then dusted off a couple of cuttle kids dies I bought on clearance several years ago, you know just in case I'd need them someday, and die cut the planets and stars before punching the silver silver stars.  Finally I added ice stickles to everything to finish it off.

If you want cute cards for boys or girls, or something for scrapbook pages, then this set is for you.  Having been an avid camper most of my younger years, I was all over this set.

My first card uses some lighter springtime colors, along with Scenic Selections, to show a cute, fun, and whimsical scene complete with the old fashioned red Coleman lanterns.  All of the images are colored using prismacolor markers with the grass being stamped in Adirondack lettuce ink before stippling Tim Holtz tumbled glass distress ink for the sky and brushed corduroy and forest moss for the dirt/grass. Then I popped up the additional images I had stamped onto scrap paper using pop dots for added dimension.

My second project uses more summer colors along with some pine tree designer paper from my stash.  Again I stamped my images in memento black before coloring with prismacolor markers then cutting out several images to pop up later for added dimension.  Then I stamped the birds and grass from Scenic Selections to help add to the dimension of the card before stippling tumbled glass and forest moss inks then popping up the cut out images.  Finally, I highlighted the flames of the campfire and lantern with orange and yellow ice stickles.

Thanks for stopping by today.  Have a great day and don't forget to stop by the rest of the design team blogs to leave some love for a chance to win today's featured set.

As you know, I love making scenic cards so this new set by Mark's Finest Papers, a Heinrich Company is  perfect for scenic stamping as well as other techniques.

After stamping all of my images in memento tuxedo black and coloring with prismacolor markers, I stippled some Tim Holtz tumbled glass ink for the sky before cutting out my additional images to pop up for dimension.  Although you can't see it very well, the background on the card is stamped using the cattails along with walnut stain and garden green ink directly to the card layers for an extra effect.  The grass on the marsh rocks are highlighted using a copic spica pen.

Embossed Lily Of The Valley And Brayered Scenes

Hello and welcome.  Today I am sharing a card made with the newest mini set from Mark's Finest Papers, a Heinrich Company called Lily Of The Valley.  For my card, I decided to keep the design clean and simple (CAS) and allow the stamp itself be the focal point.

The image is stamped in memento black and colored with prismacolor markers before layering onto black card stock then layering onto a white dry embossed panel.  The only embellishments I added were some punched butterflies with bling center.

My next two cards to share today features the new 5th set called Marsh Silhouettes and I just LOVE it!  For both of them, I dusted off my brayer and kalidacolor ink pads.  After brayering the ink onto glossy card stock and allowing the ink to dry, I then stamped my images in Ranger archival ink very carefully and added some birds from Scenic Selections.  Note: too much pressure applied to the stamp on glossy card stock will cause the stamp to "move" and give a blurry image.  Here are the completed cards.

Thanks for stopping by today.  Have a great day.  Don't forget the Mark's Finest Papers, a Heinrich Company new release blog hop starts tomorrow.  See you then.

Time Flies...

...especially when you're having way too much fun!  Like my little man and his sister Lily are here in mommy's stamp chair before their nap time.  It's so hard to believe that my fur babies are almost a year old come Memorial Day weekend.  They grow so fast.  Who put the fertilizer in the cat box?

Thanks for stopping by.  Have a great day.
