2010 Calendars MFT Style - 4th Quarter

Day Four - October, November, December - The final quarter of the year. Here I had to pair a couple of other companies with my MFT stamps for October and December. I'll explain later.

October - During my son's work and witness trip to Haiti, the team ran a medical clinic for two days since one of the team members was an ER physician. My son helped out in the clinic for a day. He said for a couple of patients they had to hang IV bags from tree limbs since there were no IV poles there to be used. I pulled out my MFT Gardner Flopsey and inked only Flopsey and his wheelbarrow, leaving out the carrots that are usually there. I then pulled out a stamps from Katiebug that has band aids, IV bag, shots, medicine bottles on it to add to the wheelbarrow since MFT doesn't have these stamps available.

November - This page I had originally done as part of the MFT temp Design Team December release. For more information on this page, refer to this blog post: Love and Sweepstakes.

December - Christmas and snow what a perfect combination. Pictures of a Christmas parade and a picture of the cross from the church in Haiti that was built by the work and witness team. Here I used a Pure Innocence Presents For You stamp paired with a Touche stamp that is one of my favorites: Santa kneeling at the manger. By adding this stamp, I was able to bring both the "commercial" part of the holiday and the true meaning of Christmas together.

After all Wise Men Still Seek Him.

2010 Calendars MFT Style - 3rd Quarter

Day Three - July, August, September coming your way today. Isn't this much easier than a super duper long post?

July - For July I just included some random shots of the kids. Photos my daughter had taken with her camera, and then some of my son from his work and witness trip to Haiti. I wanted to stamp something patriotic for July so I altered one of the Pure Innocence stamps - Balloon Girl. I stamped everything but the balloon and just had her carrying a flag balloon instead after coloring her in red, white, and blue.

August - My son kept telling me about the people he met in the village in Haiti and how happy they were even with almost nothing. So I used some bright background paper that talked about smiles, pictures from the trip to Haiti and paired them with MFT's Stephanie Fizer Paper Doll stamps. Steptember - Time to return to school. I decided to pull out 2009's school pictures of the kids, some awesome Walmart background paper and pair it up with MFT's new alphadots with the Pure Innocence Apple For You girl.

Stay tuned tomorrow for the final quarter of the year. It's amazing what you can do with stamps and scrap booking.

2010 Calendars MFT Style - 2nd Quarter

Day Two of the calendar posts...April, May, June coming your way today. Breaking the year up this way makes it so much easier to type up.

April - My daughter loves to take pictures at school of herself and her friends, just random shots for no reason. I thought these would be great paired up with MFT's stamp set "Hanging With My Peeps" and since Easter will be in April in 2010 I also used two retired sets as well.

May - Mother's Day is a very tough day for me since my own mother died a week after Mother's Day. For this month I just used random pictures of the kids and my husband with Making Memories spring designer paper and spring butterflies. I paired everything up with MFT's Mother's Day stamp set and cut the main image out avoiding the saying. June - For this month I pulled out some older photos of my son when he went on a teen camping trip with the pastor and some friends before one of them headed off to West Point military academy.

While they were hiking one afternoon across from Half Dome, they had come across a black bear that scared them all. You see most of these kids had never seen a bear outside of the zoo before, and although they knew not to get it angry, it was the shock of actually seeing it in the wild that spooked them. I paired this months photos with MFT's retired set Nature Calls.

2010 Calendars MFT Style - 1st Quarter

Every year for Christmas I scrap two calendars, one for my dad and one for my step-dad & step-mom. Usually it takes about 3 weeks per calendar, but with all of the migraines I've been dealing with I couldn't get started on these until Christmas week, so everyone is getting them late. Thank goodness they're good about that. I decided to try a different approach this year, not only scrap two at one time but try stamping with only one company's stamps unless I had to pull in another one...so I chose my MFT stamps since there close at hand.

January - My son went on a teen retreat last Easter and somehow there was still snow on the ground in the mountains here in California so those pics were perfect for a cold snowy Jan. I also used MFT's digital background winter paper and a Flopsey image.

February - Since my daughter has a boyfriend now, I thought the two of them would be great for February with reds and pinks matched with MFT's Love Birds from a prior Kit of the Month. Look for this set to be released on it's own soon. March - Since my son recently came home from a work and witness trip to Haiti, I used some of those pictures paired with MFT's set Going Places.

By adding some shamrock stickers and Jolee luggage stickers, I got both the feel of March and the feel of traveling.
Stay tuned over the next few days as each day a new quarter of the year will be posted.

Little Mushroom Girl

Good Evening. Sorry about the break from blogging. I've been dealing with some nasty migraines again and they have just been kicking my booty to the point that stamping and looking at a computer screen makes my head hurt even more.

Yesterday I finally got a chance to do this week's Wednesday Stamp Challenge and using the free mushroom template from My Favorite Things. Now Kim turned hers into a butterfly (which I love) however, I decided to keep with the template and make the mushroom since I felt another headache coming on. I traced the template onto some Prima designer paper I've had in my stash for some time and then cut it out.

After stamping my Pure Innocence Fairy Girl on MFT Perfect Panels in memento black, I used the colors in the designer paper to choose my colors for my image. I added some bling to the shoes and wand before adding bling to the prima centers and throughout the flower centers on the designer paper too.

Stamps: Pure Innocence Fairy Girl
Paper: White, Stampin Up! Chocolate Chip scrap, Stampin Up! Pixie Pink, MFT Perfect Panel, Prima Designer Paper
Ink: Memento Tuxedo Black
Accessories: Prismacolor Markers, Bling, Template, Brads, Prima Flowers, Glue Dots

Merry Christmas

No card to post today. Just a wish to everyone a very Merry Christmas. With all of the hustle and bustle of opening packages, meeting with family and friends, let us not forget the true meaning of why we celebrate Christmas - the birth of our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ!

As in the words of John 3:16, "For God so loved the world He gave His only begotten Son, that whomsoever believes in Him, will not perish, but will be saved." (paraphrased NIV)

Happy Birthday Jesus!!!

Robotic Love

Isn't this couple just the cutest? They are part of MFT's newest digital release called Robot 2. There were four digital robot stamps released on December 2nd and they are all adorable.

Once I had downloaded and printed off my image, I then colored them with prismacolor markers and stippled Stampin Up! basic gray dye ink around the edges before layering on MFT's digital nuts & bolts background paper from the Love Machine kit a couple of months ago. The attached ribbon and silver baby braddies are also from the kit. Although the gate fold card is also from the same kit, you can still buy it separately from MFT.

Once my gate fold card was assembled, I added some digital paper to the inside and some Velcro to keep it closed. Clean and simple.

Stamps: MFT Robot 2 Digital Stamp
Cardstock: MFT Licorice Gatefold, white, MFT Nuts & Bolts Digital, Stampin Up! Going Gray
Ink: Stampin Up! Basic Gray
Accessories: Computer, Printer, Prismacolor Markers, MFT Baby Braddies, Stipple Brush, Punch, Ribbon, Velcro

Candy Congrats!

Hello again from chilly California. Did you know that suckers make great baby rattles? No, I have not lost my marbles completely although I do have another migraine. I'm talking about MFT's new kit I Want Candy. Now combine that with the newly released set Alpha Dots, designed by our wonderful MFT lady herself Kim, and you have a sweet baby card.

First, I stamped my sucker/rattle background on MFT's Sno Cone cardstock in Versamagic Aquatic Splash ink. Then I stamped my sucker/rattle in Memento Tuxedo Black in on scrap MFT Perfect Panels, and colored with prismacolor markers. To add just a bit more color and make the perfect panels match the cardstock more, I sponged a retired Stampin Up! color, Mint Melody, around the edges before layering on scrap Sno Cone cardstock and sponging Mint Melody some more.

I then stamped my CONGRATS with the same Versamagic Aquatic Splash in on scrap Perfect Panels, punched them out with a 1/2 inch punch and set aside. Using the blank solid stamp in the Alpha Dots set, I inked it up with Memento Bahama Blue ink enough times to layer under each of the letters and cut those out. Once I had everything cut out, I began assembling my card splitting up the CON-GRATS as needed with the rattles in between. A blue gingham bow and three gem flower stickers finished the card off.

This card will be going to my niece and her husband who were just approved by the Ethiopian courts on their application to adopt two little orphaned brothers; one 18mos and one 3yrs old. They are the cutest little guys! I can't wait for them to come home. We're hoping by Christmas, but if not, then maybe just after the New Year.

Butterfly Stripes

Hello friends and MFT Junkies alike. I have another sample today from the new Pure Innocence release from My Favorite Things. These little girls are hot, hot, hot so your best bet is the Once Click Collection to make sure you can get all the new ones. From what I'm understanding, some of the new ones are already selling out individually.

I stamped my Heart Stripes girl on MFT Perfect Panels in memento black then taking a ruler and pencil, hand drew in my sidewalk before going over it with an artist pen. I then colored her with prismacolor markers, hand drew grass behind the sidewalk and stippled Stampin Up! soft sky dye ink around the edges before layering. MFT Santa Baby Braddies are used as "snaps" on the Heart Stripes girls jumper and on the corner embellishments. MFT spring ribbon nest, silk flowers, spring button and gem stickers finish off the embellishments with the Basic Gray Urban Prairie paper.

Stamps: MFT Heart Stripes

Ink: Memento Tuxedo Black, Stampin Up! Soft Sky, Ballet Blue

There's A New Maid In Town!

This month's Who's That Girl set is to die for! A total woman's dream come true! Now what woman doesn't want to come home from a long day at work, and not be able to put her feet up, surf the net, talk on SCS, while her hubby or significant other does the housework for her? This month MFT has made that dream come true for all of us women with the set Maid For Who's That Girl.

For my sample today I stamped my images on MFT perfect panels and colored with prismacolor markers. The recliner, ottoman, and Who's That Guy's slacks are all paper pieced using scraps from designer paper I found at Costco. The button is from MFT's Summer Button Collection.

For a list of DT and December Temp DT previewing the set today, stop by Kim's blog and leave these talented ladies some love. Don't forget today's blog hop and release party in the MFT forum on Splitcoast starting at 8:00PM Eastern time (5:00PM Pacific). See you there!
