Winter Snowflake Wishes

Second post for me today.  If you're looking for my Cornish Heritage Farms post, please scroll down one.  Thanks.

Today I am sharing a card with you I made combining a few challenges together in order to try and get some mojo going again after dealing with more migraine issues, among other things, for the last couple of weeks.

For this card, I went with a clean and simple (CAS) look with just a splash of color.  After stamping the snowflakes from the Winter Scenes set by Mark's Finest Papers, a Heinrich Company in Tim Holtz tumbled glass distress ink, I dry embossed a white panel using a Cuttlebug snowflake embossing folder with my Big Shot before adhering it with glue dots.  Then I punched three large snowflakes from scrap white card stock using a Martha Stewart jumbo punch before adhering some blue gem stickers.  My final step was to stamp the saying in memento tuxedo black directly onto the embossed panel from the Winter Scenes stamp set.  Presto!  An elegant, clean and simple card done in under 10 minutes.

Challenges submitted:

SCS Fan Club - Baby It's Cold Outside
CAS-ual Fridays - CFC83 10 Minute Craft Dash
Crafty Friends Challenge - CFC#13 Add A Splash Of Color

Thanks for stopping by today.  Have a great day and a very Merry Christmas.

Mushroom Lane Christmas

This week's Cornish Heritage Farms challenge is all about winter.  So I decided to print out one of my favorite Mushroom Lane digital stamps Christmas at #19 Mushroom Lane.

Once I had it printed out, I colored the entire image using regular Rose Art colored pencils before stamping snowflakes from the retired CHF Joyeux Noel stamp set in Tim Holtz tumbled glass distress ink and then stippling the same ink around the edges to soften them.  My final embellishment was highlighting the snowflakes in waterfall ice stickles and the snow in diamond ice stickles.

Today I am sharing with you another quick and easy Christmas gift, or gift for anytime of the year, using Mark's Finest Papers, a Heinrich Company's newest set called Kilt Fun.  Now when I first saw this stamp set, I immediately thought of Jock from Disney's© movie Lady and the Tramp© and that cute little song he sang in it.  So I decided to make a checkbook cover based on my inspiration.

After removing the black white card stock insert, I stamped the kilt repeatedly to make my own pattern on both sides of the insert before coloring with prismacolor markers.  Once my stamping and coloring were finished, I stippled Tim Holtz fired brick and pine needles distress inks around the edges of the insert.  Then I stamped the dog and fire hydrant from Kilt Fun and tree from Tree Greetings onto scrap white card stock in memento tuxedo black ink before also coloring with prismacolor markers and cutting out to adhere with glue dots then reinserting into the plastic cover.  Another variation of this idea is to take the small pocket calenders you can pick up in the dollar sections at Target, Michael's, etc and add your own altered insert instead of using the picture cover insert included with the calender.  Just take the calender out, trace it onto white card stock, and personalize the calender from there.

Thanks for stopping by today.  Have a great day and don't forget to stop by the rest of the design team blogs to leave some love for a chance to win today's featured set.

Keeping with my last minute Christmas, or hostess, gifts, today I am sharing with you the Christmas present I am giving my brother this year.  First, a little background.  Growing up, every time my brother and I went to our grandparents house in Southern California, grandma always had a special lemon dessert ready for us in the fridge along with plenty of fixings to make more while we were visiting.  Just before grandma passed away, I managed to convince her to give me the recipe so I could share it with my kids one day.  A few years ago, I made our lemon dessert for my brother when he came to visit for Christmas and he was so excited to have it again, he wouldn't stop hugging me.  So, when I saw this month's Recipe Card Starter and the matching completer sets, I knew what his present would be - the recipe and all of the fixings for grandma's famous lemon dessert!!

I started out by typing the recipe out in MS Word and printing onto card stock before stamping various images from the Recipe Card Starter and completer sets around it then coloring with prismacolor markers.  Since grandma's lemon dessert uses lemons, I stamped only part of the milk/eggs image from the completer set onto scrap paper, colored the eggs yellow, cut those out and adhered my "lemons" using micro glue dots.

Here's a close up of the completed recipe card.

The gift bag topper is stamped using the branch image from Pucker Up stamped in citrus ink onto spring leaf card stock before stamping a layer of morning sun in sunshine yellow ink.  I finished the topper by stamping images and sayings (or parts of) from Pucker Up and Recipe Card Starter.  Here's a close up of the finished gift bag topper.

In case you're wondering, the recipe for my grandma's low calorie (NOT!) Lemon Ice Box Pie is as follows:

Lemon Ice Box Pie
1 can Eagle Brand Milk
Juice of 2 lemons, grated rind of one
1/2cup whipped cream (or Cool Whip equivalent)
2cups crushed vanilla wafers
Butter a 9in. pan, then line it with crushed wafers
Beat milk, rind, juice together.  Add whipped cream
and pour into pan.   Cover with remaining crumbs.
Chill 1hr to set.

Still working on those last minute Christmas gifts here, so my project today focus' on something the majority of us love - Coffee!!!  Especially the kind of coffee we can take with us while we're driving, at school, work, etc.  I know my son is a Starbucks© nut so I made him his own stamped coffee mug to take with him to college on those cold mornings and then refill with Starbucks© on his way home when he's driving late at night.  Yes, I'm safe posting his Christmas gift on my blog before Christmas.  It's a really good thing mom's not "cool enough" to have her kids subscribe to my blog posts. LOL

I started out by taking a $1 store decorate yourself coffee mug, removing the paper insert and then placing onto white card stock to use as a pattern so I would know exactly how big my stamped replacement insert would need to be.  After cutting out the traced patter, I stamped my mug images in memento black before stamping the coffee beans in memento cocoa ink and then coloring everything with prismacolor markers.  Then I stamped my saying and color spritzed some cocoa ink over the colored images, rolled the insert up to fit inside the coffee mug, and PRESTO!  I'm done.  This part of my son's gift only took 10 minutes to make.  Here's some photos of the rest of the mug.

Today I am sharing with you the second half of my daughter Christmas present made using Mark's Finest Papers, a Heinrich Company newest set called Blossoms and Ivy.  Since my daughter also has health issues and has been asked to keep a health journal by her doctor, I decided to make her a pretty journal that wasn't too girly or garish for a slightly tomboyish 16 year old.

I started out by taking a journal I had bought a year or so ago from the Michael's $1 spot and covering it with some designer paper from my stash.  Then I stamped my images and saying from Blossoms and Ivy in memento tuxedo black ink onto MFP white card stock before coloring with prismacolor markers and stippling with Tim Holtz broken china distress ink.  Then I cut out three of the blossom bouquets and adhered them to the journal using glue dots before adding diamond ice stickles and three different colors of organdy ribbon to the journal sides with a double knotted ribbon over the glued bouquets.  I then made a matching pen by stamping the ivy images in sage shadow ink onto white copy paper and trimming so it would fit into a RSVP pen to complete my daughter's gift.  Unfortunately, the photo doesn't do the journal justice.

Thanks for stopping by today.  Have a great day and don't forget to stop by the rest of the design team blogs to leave some love for a chance to win today's featured set.

Girly Girl Sneak Peek

Hello and welcome.  Today I am sharing part of my daughter's Christmas gift (yes, it's safe to post here she doesn't subscribe) using a new Mark's Finest Papers, a Heinrich Company set called Girly Girl.  Since my daughter loves to take hot chocolate or coffee to school with her on the really, really cold mornings here in the Central Valley, so she's used a lot of my old work mugs.  So I decided it would be really nice if she had her own hot mug that  no one else in the family could try to claim was theirs.

First, I took a $1 store thermal mug, removed the "decorate yourself" insert and placed it onto MFP white card stock to use as a pattern, traced and cut out the "new" blank insert.  Then I stamped my images and sayings in memento tuxedo black ink, colored with prismacolor markers and spritzed rose ink over and around the sayings.  The final touch was adding some ice stickles to one of the purses for a little extra sparkle.  Here's a look at the rest of the sides of my daughters thermal mug.

This thermal mug was so easy to make and only took about 10-15 minutes at most.  It's perfect for stocking stuffers, Christmas and birthday gifts, or even a just because gift.  Why not try making one today for yourself?

Thanks for stopping by today.  Have a great day and don't forget to stop by for the Mark's Finest Papers, a Heinrich Company blog hop starting on Tuesday, December 18th.

Clean And Simple With Emily...

...Emily Dickenson that is.

This week's Crafty Friends Challenge is to go clean and simple (CAS).  With that in mind, I dusted off an old Stampin Up! set called Feathered Friends and stamped a scrap piece of white card stock left over from the Hope You Can Cling To challenges in memento black before coloring with koh-i-noor pencils.  Once my coloring was finished, I stamped a matching envelope and my card set was finished.

Thanks for stopping by today.  Have a great day.

Continuing again on the quick, easy and inexpensive Christmas/hostess/birthday gift ideas, I have two more to share showcasing today's featured set.

Now I love shopping in the store dollar sections, or just a plain dollar store to find a lot of my ideas.  So my first project today is a quick and easy gift using some of the coffee bricks you can find each year during the holiday in the Target $1 spot along with some matching candy.

I started out by stamping two coordinating layers of card stock with Just A Note using Tim Holtz pine needles and fired brick distress inks.  Then, taking a scrap piece of snow storm, I stamped various Christmas Selections images in memento black before coloring with koh-i-noor pencils and a blender marker.  Once my coloring was finished, I stamped the saying from All Is Calm then stippled Tim Holtz tumbled glass distress ink around the edges.  Here's a close up of the finished gift bag topper.

Then taking a glassine gift bag, I added some pre-shredded paper to the bottom before adding two Ghiradelli© Chocolate Peppermint caffe bricks, some Ghiradelli© Peppermint Bark bars tied up with green/gold bows, and then some Hugs© Candy Cane kisses before stapling the bag top shut and then adding my gift bag topper using staples to make sure it stays shut.  This gift only takes about 10-20minutes to make depending on how detailed, and how much stuff you want to add inside the bag.

My second project uses an acrylic photo frame I picked up at Michael's in the photo section (again dollar stores work just fine) took out the paper insert and traced onto snow storm card stock the size of the insert before trimming it down 1/4inch.  Then I inked up Just A Note in memento black, stamped it on the trimmed down card stock, and layered onto masonary red card stock.  Then taking the birdhouse from Tweet That, I stamped the birdhouse in memento black onto snow storm, colored with prismacolor markers before stippling with tumbled glass distress ink then layering and re-inserting into the frame.  Turning the frame on it's "back", I added a small set of post it notes for messages and  - PRESTO! My own handmade notepad to keep by a phone.

Thanks for stopping by today.  Have a great day and don't forget to stop by the rest of the design team blogs to leave some love for a chance to win today's featured set.

Today we are featuring Mountain Selections by Mark's Finest Papers, a Heinrich Company.  For anyone who loves scenic stamping, this set is another wonderful addition to your stamp collection.

Then I stamped my card using the Greetings of the Season mini stamped in Tim Holtz pine needles directly onto the card before adding my layered scene popped up on dimensionals.  Then I added the cut out images popped up on micro pop dots before stamping the saying from Amaryllis Definition in memento black.
