Is It Spring Yet?

Second post for me today.  If you're looking for my Addicted to CAS post, please scroll down one.

This week's CCEE challenge is to use and oldie but goodie stamp - one that you just had to have but have only used once or twice.  Well I went with - have yet to ink up for the challenge and pulled out a set from The Cat's Pajamas I just had to have a year ago, but never used so far.  With the weather from the middle of the country to the East Coast being so messed up, this card is totally appropriate.

I started out by stamping my main image from Warm Fuzzies in memento tuxedo black ink and colored with prismacolor markers.  Once all of the my coloring was finished, I stamped one of the snowflakes from the retired Deck The Hall set in Tim Holtz tumbled glass distress ink before stippling the tumbled glass and broken china distress inks around the edges of the main image panels.  Then I created my own background by stamping the larger snowflake from Deck The Hall in Stampin Up! brocade blue and Tim Holtz chipped sapphire distress ink then sponging the same ink around the edges.

My final touches were to die cut a lace floral doily in scrap navy card stock before popping up the main image panels over it using pop up glue dots and adding some of the punched out mini flowers that looked like snowflakes in the corners.  The saying is stamped in memento black onto scrap white card stock then punched out using a 1 inch circle punch before being popped up with the same pop up glue dots.

Thanks for stopping by today.  Have a great day.

Faith, Hope, Love

Hello and welcome.  I sure hope everyone had a wonderful Easter weekend.  Today I am sharing a card I made using a digital image from Bugaboo Digital Stamps called Beautiful Blocks - Faith.  Since I was making this card while still dealing with a migraine, I made sure to keep it clean and simple for this last week's Addicted to CAS - Spring challenge.  I had also planned on entering it into this week's CAS-ology Hope challenge, however, I missed the deadline thanks to my migraine.

Once my image was downloaded and printed out onto white card stock, I colored only parts of it using prismacolor markers before stippling tumbled glass distress ink over and around the image then layering onto a pretty in pink 3x3 card

Thanks for stopping by today.  Have a great day.

Vintage Thinking Of You

Hello and welcome to the weekend.  I am finally getting a chance to share a card I made for this last week's Splitcoaststampers WT419 Girls Rule challenge using an image I found on the Digital Two For Tuesday blog some time back.  I absolutely love this image too!!

After printing it off onto white card stock, I then colored it with Rose Art colored pencils before lightly stippling Tim Holtz old paper distress ink over and around the image then layering and adding some faux brads.  To keep with the vintage theme, I then added some GinaK Designs Wings Of Hope digital paper layered onto Stampin Up! card stock before stamping my saying in memento black to finish the card off.  Finally, I lightly stippled Tim Holtz tattered rose distress ink around the edges of the card.

Thanks for stopping by today.  Have a great day.

Stamps: Digital Two For Tuesday Digital Image, Stampin Up! Sincere Salutations
Ink: Memento Tuxedo Black, Tim Holtz Old Paper, Tattered Rose

Stamping Your Own Backgrounds Tutorial

Today I am the featured designer over on SpeedyTV and the Mark's Finest Papers, a Heinrich Company blog.  Sorry for the late post, my migraines kicked into high gear again.

Stamping Your Own Background

Supplies:
Stamps: Welcome Poppies, Love Script, Oh Happy Day
Card Stock: White, Black, SU Garden Green, Pumpkin Pie, Scraps
Ink: Memento Tuxedo Black, Tim Holtz Tumbled Glass & Antique Linen Distress Inks, Stampin Up! Garden Green, Pumpkin Pie
Accessories: Prismacolor Markers, Stipple Brush, Brads, Martha Stewart Butterfly Punch, Ice Stickles

1) Start by folding your card, then stamping the small poppy image in garden green ink directly onto the card for a tone on tone look.
When you are finished, it should look like this.
2) Next, stamp the pumpkin pie panel in the same ink for another tone on tone layer.
3) When finished with your tone on tone stamping, trim down the pumpkin pie panel so it is just slightly smaller than your card base.
4) Adhere the two panels together.
5) Now take your main image stamp and ink it in memento tuxedo black ink, and stamp it onto white card stock.
6) Color with prismacolor markers, copics or preferred coloring medium then over stamp love script in antique linen ink before stippling tumbled glass ink around the edges.
7) Once coloring is finished, layer as desired
8) Add brads, adhere layered image to card, add saying and then finish embellishing as desired.

Making your own background is easy and really fun.  I hope you also give it a try.  Here are a few more examples of cards where I've made my own backgrounds.

California Poppies

Second post for me today.  If you are looking for my Craft A Scene post, please scroll down one.

Last weekend I found a new challenge blog called Addicted to CAS.  Since one of my goals for 2013 is to try working on my clean and simple cards (CAS), which is hard for me since I love to layer and add dimension, I decided to jump right in and join in this week's Spring challenge even though I was still dealing with a nasty migraine.

I pulled out one of my favorite stamp sets called Welcome Poppies by Mark's Finest Papers, a Heinrich Company.  After stamping my image in memento tuxedo black ink onto white card stock, I pulled out my prismacolor markers and colored the poppies after California's state flower that grows wild on the hills 1/2hr from my home.  After my poppies were colored, I lightly stippled some Tim Holtz tumbled glass distress ink before layering onto black card stock then an orange card.  The only embellishment I added was a scrap of gingham ribbon tied into a knot at the base of the poppies stem.

Challenges entered:
Addicted to CAS #9 - Spring
Splitcoaststampers WT420 - Gingham

Thanks for stopping by today.  Have a great day.

Stamps: MFP Welcome Poppies

Seagull, Palms and Seashore

Hello and welcome.  Today I am sharing a card I made for this months Craft A Scene challenge - Tropical Shores.

I started out by stamping my images from Mark's Finest Papers, a Heinrich Company sets Vacation Messages Mini and Gullible Mini in memento tuxedo black ink onto white card stock before coloring with prismacolor markers then stippling Tim Holtz distress inks around the edges and to create the water before layering and adding brads.  For my background, I stamped only part of the palm trees in Adirondack caramel ink directly onto the card, added some Michael's $1 bin clearance ribbon and then popped up the layered panel over the ribbon.

Thanks for stopping by today.  Have a great day.

Stamps: MFP Vacation Messages Mini, Gullible Mini

Happy Days Jukebox

Hello and welcome to the weekend.  Today I am sharing a card I made for this week's CASology blog challenge - Song.  I decided to go with a song that was currently going through my head at the time I saw the challenge - the TV show Happy Days.  I'm sure I'm dating myself here but oh well. lol

After stamping my image and saying from Unity's Jukebox Jive in memento black then coloring with prismacolor markers, I then layered it onto some scrap Stampin Up! card stock before then layering it onto an embossed Tim Holtz retro circles panel.  My final touches were some faux brads along  with diamond ice stickles to highlight the old jukebox.

Thanks for stopping by today.  Have a great day.

Fan Of Hope

Hello and welcome.  Second post for me today.  If you're looking for my Mark's Finest Papers, a Heinrich Company blog hop post, please scroll down one.

Today I am sharing a card I've had in my head for some time, but just never made until now due to my migraines and inspiration of a couple of challenges.

I started out by stamping the cherry blossom images from Mark's Finest Papers, a Heinrich Company's set Asian Delights in memento tuxedo black onto a Stampendous die cut fan card before coloring them with koh-i-noor pencils and a blender marker.  Once my coloring was finished, I lightly stippled Tim Holtz tumbled glass distress ink over and around the edges of the fan card.

Once my card base was finished, I stamped one of the Asian ladies along with the hope saying onto some scrap  card stock, then colored with prismacolor markers before stippling the tumbled glass ink around the edges and layering onto scrap Stampin Up! card stock.  My final touches was adding some white baby brads and then weaving some Michael's $1 bin pink organdy ribbon with gold trim through the slots of the die cut fan then tying a small bow.

Challenges entered:

Today's featured set is another beautiful, and versatile, floral for your collection, so I have two samples for you.

My first sample uses the large gladiola stem, butterfly and saying stamped in memento black onto MFP white card stock and colored with prismacolor markers with Tim Holtz tumbled glass distress ink stippled around them then layered onto scrap Stampin Up! card stock.  My background is stamped in regal rose ink directly onto the card itself using the same large gladiola stem.  The only embellishments added are some moss brads I've had in my stash for years and diamond ice stickles to keep the card clean and simple.

For my second card, I wanted to continue using as much of the scrap card stock on my stamp desk as possible, so I continued with a similar color combination.  After stamping the bold block image in memento black and coloring with prismacolor markers, I layered the image onto more scrap card stock before adding some Making Memories white baby brads.  The background of the card is again stamped using the large gladiola stem stamped directly onto the card, however this time in blushing bride ink, then with the sentiment over stamped directly onto the background before adding a small ribbon knot and ice stickles.

Thanks for stopping by today.  Have a great day and don't forget to stop by the rest of the design team blogs for a chance to win today's featured set.

For my project today, I stamped all of my the images I was using from Spring Things in memento tuxedo black onto MFP white card stock before coloring with prismacolor markers.  Once all my coloring was finished, I cut out both sets of tulips, bunnies, and butterflies to pop up later and then stippled Tim Holtz tumbled glass distress ink around the edges before layering onto scarlett and black linen card stock.  After I was finished layering, I popped up the first layer of cut out images before popping up the second layer on top of those for some added dimension.

Here's a close up of the card from the side.  The final touches was adding a few birds from Scenic Selections and then highlighting the tulips and butterfly with diamond ice stickles.
