Our March New Release Mini:
Today we are featuring a set called Mother's Magnolias by Mark's Finest Papers, a Heinrich Company and this set is just perfect for Mother's Day cards, Father's Day cards (yes the saying is great for dads too), friendship cards or for scrapbooking. When my mother lost her battle with breast cancer 21years ago, I also lost my best friend, teacher, confidant, and pseudo-twin. Mom and I had so many mother-daughter sets of clothes, and we liked pretty much the same things, that a lot of people really wondered if we weren't sisters instead. My mom is also the one who taught me how to craft and how to really color. I'm not just talking about your basic coloring book stuff, but painting, coloring with pencils, pens, markers, etc and cake decorating. My mom was her happiest when she was making something.
I decided to make a scrapbook page for my project this month after reading the saying that came with this stamp set. This saying is my mom in a nutshell and is the best way I can think of to say thanks. I printed out a black and white picture of her when she was around 10 years old which is one of my favorites of her and paired it with one of the last ones taken of the two of us together. The color photo was taken approximately 8 months before she died, right after announcing my engagement. I have a hard time looking at my wedding photos of her because she passed away soon afterwards and she looked so sick at the wedding. Here she looks healthy even though the cancer had spread everywhere throughout her body.
I started out by stamping my images onto Mark's Finest Papers White Storm premium paper in memento tuxedo black ink and then colored them with prismacolor markers. Once the coloring was done, I cut everything out and adhered them to my scrapbook page making sure to arrange some of the flowers over the photos. Once my saying was stamped and layered, I also adhered it over the black and white photo with a couple of flowers arranged around the lettering.
Thanks for stopping by today. Have a great day and make sure to stop by the rest of the design team blogs and leave some love for a chance to win today's featured set.
